I'm finally getting rid of my Toyota Tacoma and moving up to a big-boi truck. 2022 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7l v8 MDS with Warlock trim/off-road package... Nervous about leaving Toyota. I have 250+k miles on it and never had any real problems... Hoping Ram doesn't let me down. If it does, I'll never hear the end of it from my wife (a Tundra driver).

I'm a retired USAF MSgt and did another 15 years with one of our 3-letter agencies before I retired for good. I'll spend a lot more time now towing the pontoon boat and the tractor (on a car-hauler). My Taco struggled with towing. Looking forward to learning all the good gouge about my Warlock in here.

I recently rented a brand new Tacoma and was disappointed. I thought the quality and ride would be much better. Felt spongy and the interior quality not what I expected from a Toyota. V6 was buzzy and loud.

I'm sure the reliability is good as is the case with most every Toyota but I think the Ram will impress.

I just switched as well. The ride is amazing vs my 2005 F150, but not sure if that just the years and all trucks now ride like SUVs, but I love it. I didn't opt for the Hemi with gas these days and only towing a couple jetskis. Rating for the V6 is still at 7480 which I like. The F150 was the 5.4L V8 and I couldn't afford it anymore.

Co-worker had a 2017 Tacoma with the off-road package. Bought new. He said it sucked at towing as well. Even with just his little fishing boat the transmission was always hunting around. Traded the Taco in after maybe a year for a 2018 2.7 Ecoboost. I remember reading an article around that time in which a Toyota representative said that nobody tows anything with a midsize truck. That's when I started looking at Diesel Colorados and Canyons. Ended up with a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. Price being about equal I opted for more truck.

I test-drove an EcoDiesel. It was a nice ride... Can't believe Ram is doing away with them so quickly!

Tacomas are good reliable trucks but imo they are too small inside and the beds are too small.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Ram! Nice color, is that Billet?

Agree. Nice little engines and good mileage but , with Diesel at .50 cents to 60 cents higher per gallon, you arent really saving anything with the price of the motor upgrade and better mileage. Still, not sure why they are discontinuing them. And they are quiet.....if you like that in a diesel.

Congrats! Retired USAF MSgt as well. Did 4 more as a contractor then dumped the clearance and have been working for Kaiser for almost 8 years.

I also traded in my 2009 DC Tacoma Sport last year for a '21 1500 ED. I loved the Tacoma and it handled everything I threw at it, but it is still a small truck and I was tired of bouncing around in it. The Ram is SO much bigger and I love it!

One note about the Tacoma - the rusted frame was replaced in 2020 for free by Toyota. Someone is going to drive that truck until the apocalypse :)
