Got an email from DHL this morning. I'm expecting a package from Hong Kong. Wonder that kind of Lama this is. Then it hit me, the winch place from Hooke Road. So yay that comes in this week. At least I can figure out if it's usable. Perhaps I can find a use for it when the move stuff comes in. Or I'll sell it and the HR bumper together as a package.

The Move bumper still hasn't shipped. Really waiting on that one. :D

Finally some good news. Took a wild leap and paid the Ram off this morning. I had the ability and rather than keep a monthly payment I decided to lighten the bank account. It was only a $408 a month but then again it's 408 a month I don't have to send out.

Ordered up a used ABS module as I've finally tired of waiting for a Mopar to get new ones in. We'll see if AlphaOBD is as easy as they say for this repair. I'm hesitant about used parts of this type, but beggars can't be choosers in this climate. A couple guys on the FB group have done it and seems fairly straight forward. Worse comes to worse i have the nonfunctional unit to put back in if all else fails.

ABS module I ordered off of ebay came in today. 4 screws, 5 minutes with AlfaOBD and i have working ABS and cruise control again. Hot damn.

So it was really simple, I initialized the ECU from the ABS menu, then cleared roll codes from the same menu. Got under the truck and removed the 4 screws, pulled the wiring harness, then pulled the module. Replaced the module in the exact opposite order.

The once everything was back in place i jumped in the cab, reconnected alfaOBD, ran the initialize ABS procedure. Lights went out except for the traction control. I was worried. But I figured I'd take it for a drive around the block to make sure the rest of it was working. About 30 feet later the traction control light went out. Tested cruise and it's back. Drinks all around.

I love it when things come together.

Everywhere I lived I found something to hate about it.

In CO, I hated replacing windshields every year, sometimes twice a year.
In MD, I hated the people. Or maybe the majorities mindset.
in CT, I hated the taxes and peoples willingness to just pay them without questioning.
In FL, well in FL I hate that I cannot get most packages delivered without some sort of frigging issue. Especially if the package goes through Orlando or Miami. Sortation delay? You mean no one wants to lift that heavy assed box.

Jeebis. I hope it isn't this bad in the rest of the country. Original delivery date was Yesterday, hasn't budged. I doubt it'll make it today says it's still stuck in a terminal. This is another order of a different type heading to me. I'm beginning to think they're hanging out at the off ramps looking for gas money. Unreal.

I had my ups package today delivered by a guy in an older model ford explorer… looks like ups has Branched out into the “gig” delivery like Amazon does.

FedEx as per normal. Delivery date is still pending. When the lovely and gracious Mrs Czervika is awaiting her purchase, they have no idea how much of a pain in the ass waiting for it to arrive is.

Yep had a guy pop out of a mid 70's Datsun last week and chuck a package in the entryway. I have no idea what's going on. But it seems like it's been going this direction for the past few months. Only company that seems to be reliable right now is DHL. They got my chinesium winch mount from WongWho to my door in 3 days and in fairly good condition given the lack of packing material.

Some times it feels like it just doesn't end. I had to sit and idle for an hour and a half at the dump waiting to get in then back out again. When I was leaving I noticed the CEL.

Isn't clear if the dealer associated parts houses have the sensor in stock or not so aftermarket it is. Hopefully I can get it swapped out before I head out for a three day trip to Orlando.

150 miles and a bit of idling no code. So far so good.

Finally back at it. Vacation was fun. The wife had us put up at the G@yl0rd hotel in Orlando for a bit. Glad to be home. Work is slow so I took the opportunity to start tacking up the move bumper.

Its heavy for sure. Much stiffer than the Hooke Road bumper even just tacked up. Home alone with this beast trying to figure out how to get it back on the ground by myself without f'ing up the truck. Yee haw.

Trying to figure out if I want to TIG or MIG the rest of it. MiG is dead simple but I want to learn TIG. I have supplies and welders on hand for either. Maybe I'll try TIG and switch if I'm garbage.

Itch like crazy from the damned welding blanket though. I hate that...

Well, I started with TIG today. The first few inches were glorious. The looked like my days of OA welding after highscool. Then the welds started to go to ****. No matter what I did there were inclusions and severe undercuts. I even turned down to 130amps. Still way to hot. That's when I realized the screen in my lens was plugging up. Switched back to a number 7 cup and all seemed to be ok. By this time though I had made up my mind to switch to MIG.

THIS friggin machine for whatever reason decided it wanted to fight me. Finally got my settings straight, and ran out of wire. I knew I was short and is why I went the other route to begin with.

No, no, I'm not showing any welds. I'm a grinder not a welder. :p

First attempt at fusion TIG. It all went downhill from here.

First time with TIG and filler.

And as I said before I'm a grinder not a welder.

So no updates for a while, the bumper was put on the back burner for a bit. Family health issues. My 11yo son lost sight in his left eye a few weeks ago. Turned out to be twin aneurysms. 14 days in PICU, back to back surgeries. One open cranial surgery left corotid bypass followed by an immediate angiogram surgery form the right side to repair his left A3.

Needless to say everything came to a halt and we lived out of several different hospital rooms for the duration.

Got home last night. He's doing well, walking eating, doing everything he used to do, other than being social. He doesn't like the way he looks currently and I'm not pushing him. Hopefully, that changes soon.

As he improves, I'll be returning to finish the work on the truck. Selling the Rambar as I want a different setup back there. Anyone in FL, hint hint... :) Make a killer deal.

Hope to follow up soon. Stay well.
