ABS and traction control light came on in Oct 2022. Took it to the dealership and they said the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. They said the part should be in by mid-November. I called and they said that they still had no date for part. They said to escalate the matter to Rams Cares. I did and was told I would get a call in a few days. This was a week and a half ago. Got a call on Friday stating it would be shipped this week. Well got a call today and they said it would be mid-January before the part would arrive. Well, my state inspection runs out the end of the month and ask what they were going to do about not having a vehicle. They stated for me to get a rental and they would reimburse me 40.00 dollars a day for 10 days. I said Well that isn't enough money or going to cover me until the part comes in. Their statement was I am sorry but that is all we can do for you. This is the 3rd ram truck I have owned and never had one problem with the other ones. Sad that they have went to cheaper parts to make a bigger profit and really do not care about the consumers who buy these vehicles. It seems like this has been known issue for quite some time and they haven't stepped in to help.

My dealer called me 2 weeks ago nd said expected date is now June 2023. Luckily I found one at another dealer and was able to get it replaced. But yeah, imagine the lawsuits when someone is in an accident this winter because their ABS isn't working and Ram has no solution.
When I tried to buy tow mirrors for mine they were back ordered for about 6 months. Seems to be a pattern here.

Unfortunately I am part of the ABS HCU Ram "DON'T" Cares club. Mid Oct had the same fault lights and now unknown when ABS HCU will be available - or at least Ram is not fessing up. Ram knows that I am unhappy as I have had bad tires (Nexen); 3 different interior water leaks; alternator & power steering pump replaced; & the ABS Module replaced. $78K truck bought in Oct 2017 with 33K miles sitting at dealership. Think I will change the name from Beast to Black Lemon. My last Ram!

Hi all, I had the same issue for a month or two. ABS, traction control and brake light all coming on at startup. I was able to keep the lights off if I turned off the vehicle after it warmed up and restarted, but this was hit or miss. Last week, I decided to double check the fuses, none of which were blown. But this time I reseated every relay in the fuse box and now the lights have not come back on since then. I'd definitely recommend reseating everything in the fuse box first.

ABS does NOT prevent accidents!!!!!! It keeps the tires rolling so you can steer and pick what you want to hit! Vigilant observation to the outside world and traveling at prudent speed for conditions prevents accidents. And no that does not always mean SLOW! If the speed limit on an interstate (for instance) is 55, and everyone is doing much faster. You may be at greater risk doing that "legal" limit. Because now, not only do you need to look forward, right, left, with an occasional rear. But your rear observation time might need to increase. To much time in a rear-view mirror is a good way to miss what is happening in front of you. Drivers education what a great class it was in high school.

2018 RAM 1500 had the same problem every bump it either came on or went out. I disconnected the abs module connector and the connector on the frame just below the drivers door and cleaned them with contact cleaner. So far the lights haven’t came back on.

I am experiencing the same problem currently on a cross country road trip. It is infuriating! Sometimes it just keeps going off for 10 minutes non stop….then suddenly stops, despite bumpy roads. It’s disheartening to see so many people dealing with this issue without concrete resolution.

Another good thing to use in ALL electrical connectors: "Dielectric Grease" as that is its main purpose to protect electrical connections. I never plug anything back together without putting a bit in the female side of the connection.

I'll disagree with that. The fact it keeps the tires rolling prevents you from hitting the car, or in my case a tractor trailer, so therefore does prevent accidents. I was driving to work in 3rd lane (left). Traffic cruising fine I was about to pass an 18 wheeler that was in the 2nd lane when someone cut him off. He jambed on his brakes and pulled into 3rd lane. I jambed my brakes on. Saw that the right 2 lanes were open I steered right over 2 lanes, just missing the truck and went around the whole scene unscathed.

The only thing that "prevented" that possible "accident" was YOU!!!!! The abs, tires traction, Suspensions ability to control vehicle mass, and on and on "added" YOU in preventing the accident. If you had just "jabbed on your brakes" and did nothing else, you may or may not of avoided contact!! As I said, and so does the Industry ABS does not -PREVENT- accidents. Being able to used your vehicle correctly does. YOU did that the vehicle did not. Watch a video of the fools out there that do not pay attention, and overreact and over correct, save themselves from the 1ST accident and create their own 2ND accident. ABS is a Tool. Sounds like you were doing what you should have-and are capable of. That avoided the accident. Nice Job!

Dealership is no help. I started sept 2022 with trying to get the part. I was told today, the part will be ready August 2023. This is code word for part will not be ready and your warranty will expire before the dealership fixes it

yeah i kept getting the same type of answer. last my dealer told me was june 2023 but that was awhile ago. i ended up finding one at a dealer and bought it and had them ship it to me but it was the original style with part # ending in A. i really wanted to wait for the 'new improved' version but also wanted my truck to be safe. not to mention my annual state inspection expires in May and i don't think it will pass with my dash all lit up with ABS warnings.
