Lol and if MELLING makes the hell cat pump why wouldnt they use the hellcat pump levels???? why would they go out of their way to make a high flow and high volume pump without going to the extra level? why dont you go watch the melling youtube video on their oil pumps... instead of the guy throwing darts against a wall with your engines... lol

And btw I am not the one making the case that anyone should use the hellcat pump... you guys are goofy enough to believe a dumb youtube mechanic looking for hits... OH use a hellcat pump, itll crank your oil pressure through the roof! lol...

Yes it can blow seals out, starve bearings of oil etc...
If you're referring to this video,i watched it 10 years ago, lol. In other words you have no qualifications to make the statements you're making. Who do you think makes the Hellcat pump if not Melling, come up with something that proves they don't,i'll wait, lol

okay well then, I am wrong you are fully qualified to slap an oil pump with too much pressure in your engine :)

Lol

Better do a little more research, there's a differance between a high volumne pump and a high pressure pump.If you actually watched the Melling video ,you'll see the differances. You can run a low pressure spring in a high volumne pump. The Hellcats run longer pump gears to compensate for the oil cooler and piston squirters, they don't really run any higher pressures to speak of then the 6.4's do

Lol

Here's their high volumne pump with a standard 60 psi spring, plus an optional 50 psi and 65 psi spring

Here's the lower volumne pump with higher and lower pressure springs.

exactly so why would you need a higher output than that?

This is exactly what I did. Result is 45 psi at idle, 60psi by 2900rpm, 65psi by 3800rpm.
This sounds like the best solution to have the higher pressure at idle yet not too high like up to 99 psi. I may do this. Will be going in my jasper 5.7 hemi in my 2011 Ram 2500. Cylinder 3 misfire intake valve not fully opening. So probably cam, lifters, hellcat pump.

I plan to install an oil thermostatic cooler since I’m still hitting 240°+ towing. Since I’m only hitting 200°+ when towing even here in AZ it shouldn’t affect idle pressures much if at all.

Ever thought of doing a dual remote filter set-up instead. My oil temps hardly get over 200,and i'll have to be running it wide open for several miles well in excess of 140 mph to even get them to 200,and as soon as i slow down, they drop right back down to 185. That's with a 180 thermostat.

I’d considered it but was thinking I only wanna cool the oil when needed which is why I thought thermostatic cooler. Anything other than towing I’m staying <200°, probably cause I don’t stomp on it much if ever.

What are your oil temps when cruising normally?

They run right around 185 to 190 on a 80 degree day if i'm cruising at 60/65 mph,thats with a 180 t-stat and 3.55 gears,if you have 3.92's they'd run a bit higher

So my truck is in the shop. Sure enough cylinder 3 misfire when the heads were pulled, the number 3 intake lifter roller failure and cam lobe grooved out. So it's getting new stock cam and lifters. It's also getting the hellcat oil pump with the pressure regulator spring from the stock 5.7 pump. My oil pressure before going into the shop was 20, 19, 18 hot idle. 25 ish while driving hot. 42 cold start. So I'm hoping I'll have adequate oil pressure with this scenario post fix. Probably up the oil to 5w 30 with a moldy additive too.
