Hello,

I have a 2011 ram big horn with 5.7 HEMI.
I just changed the rear diff. fluid, I used valvoline synthetic 75w140. I did not add friction modifier, is that a must? how do I know if I have a limited slip differential?

I also changed the front diff, but I couldn’t find a drain plug, is that standard on this truck? I tried to pump it out, but nothing came out, so I just refilled with fresh 75w90 synthetic.

I also changed the transfer case fluid, as recommended by multiple posts here.

I hope to hear from you soon. This is my first time changing differential fluid on this truck.

Read the bottle or bag. Mostly all are now coming with the additive in it already. The additive is not detrimental to an open differential so you have no worries.

Pull the front cover that way all of the gear oil drains out, never was a fan of just sucking/pumping it out...
Thank you for clarifying that. I wasn’t sure if perhaps a wrong cover was installed by the previous owner. I am not a fan of 1/2 done jobs either. I will redo it next weekend. Do I need to apply any sealant around the cover when reinstalling or tread lock on the bolts?
Thank you!

Not sure about the newer truck but my old 2006 I was about to reuse the OEM gasket without any sealant, if yours has a gasket be careful taking it off an not damage it...
