Already posted this farther up.Same idea would apply to an upfitter switch, and the same wire could be used

That's painfull to watch, forgot the tools ,forgot the iron, I don't need to see a burnout. Way easier ways to do this.

Seems like the guys making the video's feel the need to burn some tires, before they get to the actual mod, here's another one for you to watch, lol
For anybody trying this, use just a simple on/off SP/ST switch, for some reason a fancier lighted switch won't work,at least it hasn't on my FCA products.

Wow I would think being a 2011 would give you some protection. I do hate thieves though. You have my condolences.

The lighted switches have a current draw that is probably pulling the circuit down.
They bypass enough power, the car will still start with a lighted switch, gauges etc might not work, but the car/truck will start,at least those are my experiences

Like Wild one says best way to keep your investment is a hidden switch that shuts off a critical system ie fuel pump, ignition etc. When under threat just turn the switch off and disable your vehicle. I am not going to say where I have mine hidden.

I have some news! I just heard the truck was recovered in Wheat Ridge, CO (about 30-40 minutes from me). I called the towing company and they’re going to get it from the local PD right now. They can’t tell me anything about it until it gets to the towing company. This last hour of waiting is going to kill me.

Well I got it back. The tank was damn near empty, but no mechanical damage that I can see. None at all. Lots of shoplifted stuff in the back seat, and they were doing some **** or fentanyl too. It’s now in the detail shop for a deep clean / disinfect. I attached a couple pics of the foil that was everywhere. That blue dot at the end of the burn trail is what’s left of the drug. I had no idea what this was until after I drove the truck 30 minutes back to the shop and sent these pics to my cop friend. I’m sure glad I didn’t just grab it and toss it.

Glad to hear it was recovered. Hopefully they didnt do anything other than what you saw. They were smoking oxy or some other ****** pill. Just clean her up and you have an interesting story to tell. Meanwhile Im researching the kill switch lol.

I’m definitely doing the kill switch thing. These clowns might come back.

I'm glad you got it back.

Because of this thread I ordered a Faraday box to keep our fobs in. I know it's a slim chance that we're the ones cloned but I live on a side road that's pretty close to a main road and I'm one of the first houses on the street. At $16 it's cheap and easy insurance. I may still install a kill switch, I have to see.

One idea I just had is to hide a Samsung smart tag (or Airtag if you use scrapple) in our cars somewhere. They can disable a factory GPS but they can't remove what they don't know exists. Again not fool proof but at $20 each, it's another easy cheap layer of insurance.

My 2011 5.7 was just stolen the other day, right out of my driveway. I live right on a busy street, and car thefts are on the rise. The Sheriff deputy I’m working with says thrives are getting more and more bold, and I’m just the latest victim. Anyhow, on to my question. Can these trucks be hot wired and the door slim-jimmied? There was no sign of break in, and the guy was quiet and quick enough I didn’t even hear him. I thought that the smart keys and whatnot made it impossible to start without the key. How are these scumbags doing it these days? Can they spoof the key so it’ll start? I know I’m never going to see my truck again, it’s probably already a pile of parts. I’d just like to know how he did it so easily? Thanks!
Buy and USE the "Club" on the steering wheel. One of my customers had his pride and joy GMC Sierra crew cab stolen. Turns out that his parking lot at his work has security cameras, rent-a-cops, etc. and the truck was stolen anyway!!!

He replaced the truck with a 2006 same model, 2006 truck. I advised him about the Club, and how it had prevented my old Suburban's theft. (Back in the day that Suburbans were stolen at an alarming rate) He bought a Club and uses it consistently.... no more problem!

A Farady container has limits. An advanced thief will get the code from the truck directly. I do not know about Ram, but this "transmit" so-called convenience can be turned off in Lexus vehicles and others. The push button vehicles have atennas in both front door handles that transmit constantly, looking for the FOB.

Put a Club on the steering wheel. Likely, the thief will seek an easier target.

A club can be beaten with a small hack saw. Just cut through the steering wheel. Goes even quicker with a battery Sawzall.

Almost nothing is 100% effective. The goal is to get them to move to an easier target. Both methods do that.

Club has the advantage in they can see that it is there so they don't even try breaking in. Both together is better.

Well, yeah, like a car thief is going to roll up with a set of tools.... I worked at a dealer many years ago when I drove my 1990 Suburban. I used the club. All my fellow employees gave me endless grief about how cutting the steering wheel, freezing the club with freon and whacking it with a hammer... yada yada yada.. SOO easy to steal it!
I was called dumb for the effort.
This was back when those chevy's were second only to Honda Accords (Accords were the number one car stolen then)
A technician from our Mitsubishi division was an ex-con reformed car thief. He overheard all this chiding and ridiculing me using the club.... One day he told me about his job as a gang member in his bad days which was stealing cars. He told me that he nor anyone he knew in the business of stealing cars carried tools other than a screwdriver. His advice was to ignore those people and keep on using the device (which I was doing regardless of the advice).
My suburban never got stolen.
My customer who uses his club on his 2006 GMC Sierra due to his prior Sierra being stolen, has had no attempts of theft upon this one in the 3 years that he's owned it. He only had his prior one about 6 months.
In a nutshell, if they want to steal it badly enough, they will, but, to quote the fellow employee who actually once stole cars for a living told me "We went after the easy marks... keys left in the ignition, doors unlocked, etc." He stated that he never saw or knew of car thieves who toted tools around to steal cars other than a screwdriver. And that won't trump a Club. I use the Club on my Ranger. I still have the Ranger.

I use an anti-elephant siren on my truck, and so do all my friends; not one of us have had our trucks stolen by an elephant.

Best investment I ever made. Lots of good advice in this thread.

Yeah, and I would use the elephant horn too, except, I remember when Tarzan donned his **** cloth, swung through the trees, pounded his chest and yodeled, conjuring up elephant stampedes! ;)
