I have a 2018 2500 4x4 with 6.7 Cummins and only 34,570 miles that is now on its 3rd ABS PUMP motor control. The first one replaced ( under Warranty } was at 16,139 miles on 9/25/2020 while on vacation in Maine. The unit replaced Tuesday in Florida my home state 10/4/2022 and the mileage was 34,511 miles. This now is the third ABS pump motor control since new and cost me $1,501.75. After some research I have learned that the part # 68143491AA was installed yet again even though apparently there is a NEW replacement with part # 68143491AB. I am very unhappy for two reasons first my replacement unit in Maine to the one on Tuesday is 9 days beyond parts replaced warranty. We here in central Florida have been dealing with Hurricane Ian either directly or indirectly. This caused me to miss getting to dealer 9 days late for warranty replacement. And the second issue is I am truly concerned that in 15,000 miles or so I will be in the same situation again. If anyone is aware of a class action lawsuit pertaining to this issue I would really appreciate hearing from you.

I was in the same exact boat as you. Had one done in 8/2020 and another one installed last month (at the time it was within 1 month of the 24 month warranty ending. My dealer explained that the AB part will not be available until some time after 1/2023. My dealer did not have the part in stock and I was forced to locate one at another dealer then pay to have it installed at my dealer. I then reached out to "RAMCARES" who opened up a case on my behalf. About a week later the case was closed and they put a check in the mail to reimburse me in full. Do yourself a favor and send Ramcares a message explaining the situation, it will take a day or 2 until they respond. Make sure you send your VIN, name and name of dealer to expedite things. Once they do the ball will be rolling and it will be submitted to a claim rep who "SHOULD" be able to give you a satisfactory resolution. Again I could have waited for the "AB " part but wanted cruise control working and did not want to deal with the audible ding, ding ding whenever it decided it wanted to act up.

I just had mine replaced Friday for the first time at 27,000 miles. Called all around and the AB was not available anywhere and the AA was no longer being made. Tracked down an AA from another dealer. I chatted with Ram Cares a couple of times and there wasn't much they could do so I took it to my buddies shop and had him replace it.
Ram Cares told me to schedule an appt at my dealer so did that and spent $99 then got back to Ram Cares and then was told because my truck was Canadian they couldn't help me. They did tell me to call a number but I had already wasted $99 following their advice and I just wanted it fixed.

Can't find 68347098AB ABS and 68143491AA HCU modules for 2018 2500 ram diesel. Everyone is out of stock and no eta given. Having same problems as everyone.....lights flashing, dinging and kicking cruise off. So frustrating.

My dealer called me last week and told me the ETA is now June 2023. I found one at a dealer not far from here but it is the AA, not the newer AB

I am in the same boat. 2018 ram 2500 with 23k miles and can’t get the abs module or hydraulic control valve to fix my abs issue. I had ordered it from a website who said it was in stock to find out it is on national backorder with no ETA.

I have been battling this since last March. I have replaced tge HCU once, light was still on. Replaced the ABS module 3 times and light is still on. Last time I bought a known working HCU/ABS from a used vehicle and it still didn't work. Each time I went through the whole initialization process on AlfaOBD with no positive result. Two different dealers sag two different things. It's been a headache and upsetting that a $60k truck has this issue that I can't seem to remedy.

2018 2500, same issue. Dealer can't get the HCU, been a few months, no ETA in sight.

Hopefully this means they are fixing the part that clearly has a defect... Google is full of similar issues with this part.

Is it safe to drive in the current state with the abs and traction control dash warning lights illuminated?

Depends. I'm old enough to have driven lots of cars without ABS but probably over 50% of todays drivers have not so might not know how to react if they end up in a skid. All American cars made since 2012 are required to have ABS so I'm guessing there is a potential for huge lawsuits if someone is seriously injured or worse.

In PA you are not required to have cab clearance lights on a truck but if it came with them then they must all work or you cannot pass the annual state safety inspection. I doubt you can pass it with the ABS light on but not sure.A quick search says you cannot pass the inspection but I'm sure each state is different. So now what? My dealer called a few weeks ago saying the expected ETA for the HCU is now June 2023 and I'm sure that will be pushed back too. So now you have a $70,000 truck that you cannot drive because it won't pass inspection. Now what?

There really should be a recall and an emergency order to get these things produced, no matter the cost to Ram.
