So I bought some Lubegard for motor oil after reading about it here.

I put in 20 oz of Lubegard for 6.5 qts of PUP 0W40 as per the directions.

I've never had the hemi tick.

Based upon no quantifiable evidence:
Sound - a little quieter
Idle rpms - a little lower
Power - feels a little peppier

MPG - no info.

I think I'll continue using it for awhile.

@Zoe Saldana I just did my second oil change (first with a full dose) of LubeGard. It is velvety smooth/quiet now, to the point that I'm almost worried how smoothly its running, like it's giving up something else in return that I don't know about.

Still, I think I'll continue using it, at least until I deplete my stockpile of Mobil 1 oil sitting in my garage. Then maybe I'll finally splurge for Red Line.

@Burla you mentioned not switching to Red Line if you had a high-mileage truck. Why do you think that?

Yes, Lubegard and M1 or Redline - definitely not Redline and Lubegard - the truck might OD on moly.

Cost wise Lubegard and M1 is probably less expensive.

So I think some cases need the redline despite the mileage, but there is more of a risk as we now know as 3 ram forum members knock got louder, but mind you many as well went quiet. But, so far knock wood no ram got louder with 5w30 and less the 75k miles that I have seen reported here. The redline is pretty powerful stuff, it can wipe out the trace of old oils that may have had some slime keeping things quiet. Now, in theory as the plate and film builds, this can come back to quiet, but this is a risk as reported here.

So, I personally don't think switching to redline in a high mileage hemi is a good idea unless you have some tick. It's like, if other oils are serving you well follow the if it aint broke don't fix it model. But, as you have found, you can add some lubegard and make any oil better, thats why we coined that poor mans redline. Smooth, but maybe not quite as smooth as redline 5w30. From what you said, I don't see much reason to take on redline, sounds like lubegard is doing right by you, keep the redline move on the back burner in case you get some tick. If you can, try and find the 20-820 filters for RP.

A stupid question beats a dumb mistake, I just added some Lubeguard and it helped after just a few miles, so far. (40 miles) Still a slight tick. Am I supposed to use a bottle of this every oil change? I get the plating aspect. Just want to keep adding it, if it will further protect my engine. Thanks.

@Theair98 , yes, every time you dump your oil, you dump the Lubegard too, so if you want to keep it present in the oil, you've got to put more in every oil change.

The max concentration they recommend is 3 oz per quart of oil in the system. So for the Ram, assuming 7 quarts total, you can fit about 19 to 20 oz Lubegard (about 0.6 quarts), and the remaining 6.4 quarts as oil, and maintain this concentration. If you only have a 15 oz bottle, you can safely pour it all in and remain within this concentration. If you're referring to one of their 32 oz bottles, then you shoud not pour the whole thing in, and instead measure out 19-20 oz at most.
