Does anyone else feel their MDS "bump" lightly when coming put of it? truck rides and shifts way better and smoother when In -8+ mode and MDS is not active. I definitely feel it more now than when I first got it so I'm not sure if the shifting adaptives have something to do with it. Tranny was replaced less than 6 months ago due to the same symptoms and I'm not pretty sure it was always MDS causing it. No codes, no slipping, just kind of annoying when driving around town. Feels like I'm learning to drive a stick again sometimes.

Mds is trash mine would make the whole truck jerk when it kicks on that is why we all dissabled/tune it out that is the only fix. Its a failed design that saves no gas and as the truck ages mds gets worse gm and a few other companys do this aswell.

Quick update for those who might be experiencing the same thing. Just did the tune up and replaced rubber boots. Truck feels WAY smoother when going in and out of MDS. I don't know what's the actual science behind it, but the plugs definitely needed to be replaced after looking at them.

Which rubber boots are you referring to?

I'm new to the Ram world - bought a used 2017 Sport 1500 last year - and the MDS is so jarring that I thought something was wrong with the truck. I avoided bringing it in to the dealership, because that's nothing but a huge hassle. I discovered the MDS, and the trick of using the gear buttons to disable it yesterday, and the truck drives so much better with the MDS off.

He means the rubber boots on the coils.

That's right, coil rubber boots and spark plugs made a huge difference for me. I hardly felt the MDS after that. Have you replaced your plugs yet? I'd also let the transmission learn your driving style, if it stays the same after a couple weeks, I'd look into replacing the coils. At least that's what I did. Good luck!

I was wondering if one can permanently disable the mds by simply pulling the wire connector off of the solenoid? Does anyone know if the solenoids energize or de energize to load? If it is de energize to load would think just disconnect all of the unloader solenoids and would permanently disable the mds.

Cant remember if I tried this it may kill spark/injectors aswell soo.. not sure and if it does work it would set off engine light but thats not a big deal.
