2020 RAM1500DT: Can I install a passenger side, overhead gab handle? Is that even possible? And if so, where would I find a “kit”?
Reason I ask: Wife’s arthritis is acting up and reaching for the window frame B pillar gab handle can be painful.
Thanks all.

is she outside getting in, or the other way ?
is she getting in or out of the front seat or rear ?

do you need this grab point midway up the door or near the top of the door ?

does it need to be near the "A" pillar or back by the "B" pillar ?

for the door

There is a handle I have seen somewhere you put over the door striker plate as an assist.
May work instead, to assist entry.

I would think that someone on here has had that head liner down!
Any handle from any vehicle would do it , provided there is somewhere behind that roof liner to drill into. A roof support maybe? Captive nuts would work too.
Main problem would be finding a fixing point there strong enough to not pull out.
I really think that handle over the striker might work for ya.

If you were not concerned about appearance, a grab handle similar to what a Jeep uses could be an idea...bare in mind though, if equipped, side impact bags are located in the roof area above the doors.

Thanks all for your responses and those suggestions. Had in mind a matching interior overhead gab that attached thru the liner into the roof structure. They have them in all sorts of cars and trucks. Had them in my old 4Runner . Didn’t think of the possibility of airbags in that portion of the roof. That may be a problem……..need to re-think this…….

Again, think about that handle ypu place over the striker plate. I can’t think where I saw them but google search should do it. It just fits over and you take it off once she’s in

I think I know what you are getting at, @ColesRAM and I am interested in the same thing. Everyone who rides in the front seat complains there is no “Oh ****!” Handle. There’s the one way up on the A-pillar, but it’s too far away for short people.

What are these things in the headliner? They are right where the handle should be.

As you so well described, that is the type of gab handle I am looking for.
My wife (or I when she’s driving and I’m riding shotgun) does not have a problem getting into or out of the truck. It’s the stability handle for when the passenger needs it. It’s more convenient over head then trying to reach forward for the pillar gab bar. The act of reaching forward is uncomfortable for my wife.
Those things that are where a gab handle could be are the mic (large one) for your phone and the “white noise” (smaller one) generator speakers.

Thanks for telling me what those are! I guess they’re not gonna be a good point to bolt in a handle…

No, not really…….they are not hard points and the more I look, the more I think there are no hard mounting points in that area. One of our members pointed out that there might be air bags there…….hmmm…….
