New rack, tie rods uneven

2003 dodge ram 1500 4wd
I just put my rack in and when the steering wheel is straight the tie rod threads are extremely uneven. One side has over an inch of threads showing and the other has no threads showing. If I loosen the steering coupler at the rack, it only goes on one way. It’s like my steering is half a turn off. When I turn the steering wheel, it turns farther one way than the other. How can I correct this? 2003 dodge ram 1500 4wd

If you still have the old rack you could measure the tie rod ends on that, match the new to the old and get an alignment.

Center your wheels and turn the steering each way and count the revolutions to make it to each lock. Put it in the center of your count and readjust.

I centered my rack before I installed it. Turned it all the way each way and counted the rotations then put in the middle. Measured from the frame to the rotor on each side before I removed the old one to get the tie rod end adjustment in the ballpark.
