And there was another pic that made the rounds from a guy in Mexico where his camper broke the frame in half. Can't find the picture right now. Abig camper, but supposedly lightweight.

There are Ford Superduty's doing the same thing
BAWHAHAHAHAH That guy is in oregon. My employee made a video of him this last week. He is still driving his truck like that....

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! Alittle heat and a big hammer, you will never notice.

Moral of the story read your owners manuals.

They say they weren’t overweight but there’s other stipulations to slide in campers than just payload. Over hang comes into play, thus the reason for the campers supplement that is supplied with the vehicle. It lists how to determine the weight.
Here's the other guy I was referring to, Baja Mexico:

That is a lot of cantilevered load. I wonder were the water and sewage tanks are and if they were full. Saw one pic it looked like hook ups were at rear of box. Plus the bikes stuck even farther out someone mentioned they were electric so not light raising bikes. I'm sure that puts strange forces on a frame the engineers never imagined.

Fixed that for you :) I'm pretty sure the engineers know exactly what they designed, but there is no hope for a truck when owners don't read or understand the various specs.

I do feel very bad for the owners though. Judging by his comments, most likely it was just lack of knowledge on their part. Very expensive lesson to learn and lets face it, it would definitely ruin my year if I did something similar.

So, you mean to tell me that the people that engineered and designed these trucks know what they are talking about when they rate the trucks for payload capacity? And if you exceed these weights, bad things, such as cracking frames and whatnot can occur? What a crazy thought!
That is why fifth wheel hitch pins are either over or just in front of the axle.
Also why they recommend a load equalizer hitch for pull behind trailers over a specific weight.

And that my friend, is why after looking at the picture, Stellates denied his warranty claim. Go figure.

I bet he even did his research on the "mechanic" that welded it back up alongside the road. He doesn't need the warranty any more it's welded good enough. Throw the camper back on it and hell throw a side by side on top of the camper too and hit the road. Some people...

Hey, those roadside welders are the best at gluing things back together.

Funny part? After it gets fixed/replaced. He's going to go put it back on and drive with it again....

He drove it home without the camper.

If you read above. Some person stopped on the side of the road helped them. Had shop or something. welded the frame.
That was White six four comment above.

I just posted this because of a friend sent me the same pic in a text message. MY guess would be because that camper with all of his gear in the back he would be overloaded. The specs on the camper he is carrying says the dry weight of that camper is 4917lbs. Probably more than that if he optioned it out. That would be my guess...

Saw this on a auto blog today. Makes me cringe. Apparently this couple has had this RV in back of this 3500 for 25k miles until this happened. FCA is denying warranty on the frame.
Most definitely overloaded. That aside, you would hope that your frame is capable of holding double. I think the article I read from the people this happened to claimed that they were overloaded as well. That's just a cheap cheesy way for FCA to deny warranty. They should have an independent company inspect it.
