I have an 04 ram 1500 4.6 V8 I went to change my oil and air filter and had a big glob of nasty milky stuff on my air filter and in my oil evap line. Does anyone know what's causing this issue and how to fix it?

The oil looked normal just burnt from being used.

After your truck has sat for a day or so, crack the oil drain plug loose. DO NOT remove it.

With a small pan underneath it, loosen the drain plug just enough that it starts to drip.

Watch the drip. If there is coolant in your oil, you will see it in the drip fairly quickly as it will have settled to the bottom of the crankcase.

My '02 was losing coolant very slowly, I had a bad head gasket and was mostly burning off the coolant. Some did make its way into the crankcase, though.

Here's how sludged up they can get:
Drivers side valve cover.

Passenger side head. Look at the sludge.

Some of the oil. 3 distinct layers, maybe 4

@EdGs , what were the circumstances of those photos, especially the last one with the used oily goodness?

@Daniel Ortiz, I had the same milky stuff under my oil fill cap.

2002 1500 4.7L

Had been loosing coolant very slowly for quite some time, but ever since owning the truck.

Would get a puff of white smoke at startup, and a small amount maybe for a minute or so. Turned into more and more smoke and greater coolant loss. No puddles or hose leaks.

We had the truck almost 2 years with this slow coolant loss before it got worse.

After I let it sit for a day and cracked the drain plug loose enough to drip, green coolant after 4 or 5 drops.

To be honest, I believe the previous owner put stop leak in it, because when I had it apart, the heater core was plugged, had to use a garden hose on it to clear it.

The last pic is just some of the oil when I drained it to do the head gaskets. I put it in a couple of jugs. and noticed it after it sat and separated.

Can you tell which cylinder was burning coolant? Drivers side head:

Both heads, after a mineral spirits bath:

All timed and oiled, rotated a couple revs:

I remember back in the 70's when people were pushing water injection to help keep the combustion cylinders free from carbon build-up. I guess that's direct proof that it can work LOL.

That looks like it is on the inlet side of the air filter?? if so, should not be from leak in the motor
That does it feel like ?
