From what I read or I may have miss read it. The harness is for tradesmen models. I have a 2013 Laramie fully loaded. Mine is a 2018 newer radio. What does the harness do for the radio?
I believe it is for any pre-2018 vehicles; that installing a 2018 or newer UAS or UAQ requires a harness to ensure all features function correctly. One thing I do know is different is that pre-2018 models did not have Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Since this did not exist in 2013 your factory wiring may not the capacity to process the signal in from a phone. I freely admit I don't have the technical expertise about what doesn't work correctly. But M²Mods both sells a harness and can provide much more information including correcting anything I misstated . Good luck.
Looking back through Monkeytool's posts over the last page....
Because he has a factory 8.4 Dual Zone ATC equipped truck, all he 'should' normally need would be the 18-21 UAx 4c Panasonic radio, USB Hub and a hub adapter harness... Which it sounds like what he has (not from me).
The issue is that the radio for some reason is not fully resetting/configuring itself in his 2013 Laramie 1500 5.7 truck... There have been a few folks with tuned/deleted trucks having that issue, but that's not the case for his stock Laramie.
Previously indicated his 2020 UAq 68461699Ax radio is on Application Version v34.x.
Previously suggested the latest is v39.6 ... Which may help.
Or maybe swapping out the original HVAC module (behind passenger Air vent) with the 2018 2500 HVAC module (68366553AA).2013 trucks have the same system as a 2500
