I just had a replacement thermostat instead of a new radiator, week later the needle is in the middle and started to move higher but stayed there, it was 220 to 226 back to 220, is that average temp for a 5.7 L?

Stock stat is 203, so yours running warm, have system checked. Also, since U R in Florida, U could drop down to like a 195, but I would not go much lower. But that is me. Also, those temps will bang around, ne where from 199-217 ish. On MY 19, I run 204-218, and it will fluctuate. When I park, I always put on MAX AC to force the cooling fan to come on and cool before I shut down. All IMHO... ALSO wat posters #2 & 3 said.

Need to have the system pressure tested to make sure the rad isn't bad. I also recommend the 180 degree t-stat il lieu of the factory 203 degree unit.
There's nothing wrong with the factory 203°F thermostat, it's only too hot for your liking.
It's also know that without a tune that a 180°F thermostat can cause a check engine light as the ECM will think the engine is not fully warming up.

It's not uncommon to get a bad thermostat,just cause it's new,doesn't mean it's good.Sounds like you might have a new thermostat that's a bit of a dud

So I just ran the truck and ran the AC on high and the temp was climbing to 228 degrees before I shut it off, could it be the water pump or what?

Still wouldnt hurt to take it to a different garage if you have suspicions of your current mechanic. These days its hard to trust actual mechanics, so if you can do it yourself then do it. A thermostat isnt that big of a job, just takes a screwdriver, pair of pliers, socket wrench and socket and a tad bit of patience. Your water pump isnt likely to fail...not saying it cant, but unless youve been working your truck really hard and havent been maintaining it..a water pump can last the engines lifetime unless the coolant is crap. Corrosion is what kills water pumps. If youve flushed the radiator and it came out sh*t brown because someone added a ton of water, then yeah it could be corroded. Otherwise if its MOPAR orange or red, its going to be good.

Does sound like a radiator, bad thermostat or both. Find U a reliable garage and have them troubleshoot it for you.

ADDED: Do you have Mechanical Fan or E Fan? If E Fan, make sure it is working, U will hear it spool up. Mechanical, watch and insure working also. When U put on MAX AC, that forces the E Fan to engage, on mechanical, I just do not know on a 2014 Ram

Of Course, you could have an air blockage also, may need to be burped/purged, plenty of threads on that also. BUT IF U think the garage U R taking too is "taking" you, you do need to go somewhere else, IMHO...

It it was your water pump you’d either see a leak or hear the bearings failing. I’m on my 3rd water pump in 100k mile on my wife’s Durango. Dodge had a run of bad pumps around 2014 because I couldn’t find an OEM pump anywhere in the US when the stock one failed.

Have it towed if your going to take it somewhere keep overheating it and ul be doing heads doesnt take much to warp and blow gaskets on these or any modern engine really.

Did you check the fluid level? When I changed my T-stat out to a 180 degree, I did a drain and fill fluid change. I topped it off and went out for a drive. In about a mile, my temp spiked. I quickly realized that the truck had burped a large air pocket, which caused the low fluid. I figured it would happen, so I brought fluid along. It had the same symptoms as you are describing. It is worth a shot of checking something as easy as the fluid level.

There is definitely something going on that is causing your engines to fail
That is if the engines are really failing

What are they saying that is wrong with the engine ?

Is there a crack in the block, are the head gaskets blown, did the cam shaft or crankshaft fail ?
There has to be a reason for failure.

If you decide to fix the truck, get that Radiator to a Radiator Air Conditioning shop, a shop that specializes in those 2 things.
Not a shop that does general repairs

I would of checked is flow through the radiator.
3 engines, were they used? Who knows what crap were in those engines and now clogged the inside of the radiator. Also if you run it without a thermostat it should not even warm up, if it still gets hot with no thermostat in it then there has to be a blockage with debris or even air locked.
Also if you're getting used engines you may be blowing head gaskets is another thought.

3 engines in a year that truck sounds jinxed. Highest I saw my coolant so far was 208 or so (dash readout)

Something not make any sense? 3 engines that quick? OP needs to look at the common denominator on all these engines and maybe that is where the compounding problem is, IMHO...
