Greetings from Arizona. I'm the original owner of a 2005 5.7 Hemi 2wd quad cab that's got 339,000 miles on the original engine and trans. (thank god for no MDS on this one). Anyway, Been wanting a newer truck with 4WD and a Crew Cab and was watching the salvage auctions for something to build. I ended up with a 44k mile 2017 Rebel with rear damage and a 2017 Rebel with no real damage other than it's a "Parts Only" title I needed for the rear bumper, bed assembly and frame. As fate would have it a couple days later I ended up with a 57k mile 2016 Rebel with some minor front end damage.

So I'm gonna scavenge one, build two, keep one and sell the other. I like the red better than the granite color one but truth is I own a collision shop and may simply do a complete color change anyway. What I didn't know about the '16 Rebel when I purchased it is that the side stripes aren't something that the previous owner added, it's part of a package called a "MOPAR 16" edition. It's got a plaque on the dashboard and is numbered 101 of 500 made. Is there anything special about this package? Any real following or registry for them? My gut tells me keep the lower mile truck but the difference between 44k on the regular Rebel and 57k on this Mopar edition isn't that much and I can't decide which one to keep. Sure they'll both have restored salvage titles but that doesn't matter to me. Thoughts? and Thanks.

Mopar does a package every year. Some years it is dodge, some RAM, some Jeep and even chrysler. There are a few things that come on them that will not be found on other models.

Remember, no one thought much of Daytona and Superbird back in 69 and 70.

Too bad I moved a few months ago out of AZ or I'd be making you an offer on a front/rear axle.

True, but the Datyona and Superbird were more than sticker packages.

The Mopar packages are more than a sticker package too. They often have different exhaust, sometimes a Mopar tune, some substantial mods at times.

Ultimately the SuperBird and Daytona was just a front fascia and a rear wing. (To car lot browsers) I am not disagreeing, but to people in 69 and 70 they were not desirable. They were not desirable for many years after too.

The charger 500 was also an unpopular package cause the front end and rear window just did not appeal to Many.

Obviously, a wrecked truck is not real appealing to many buyers. But if I was rebuilding a truck and much of the actual package was intact, I would build the Mopar one. It will be much harder to find in years to come and may make someone more interested in a salvaged truck.

I never sell mine til they are beyond repair...so I never give two cares what the next guy may want.

But, many do.

I like most would build the "MOPAR 16 edition" in years to come you may have a special piece! I to was in the autobody business and rebuilt cars and trucks so I know you probably have a good relationship with your Ram Dealer ! I would often call my dealers parts dept and ask if they would run the VIN and tell me everything there is to know about the car or truck I.e options special packages anything and everything about it ! then try to keep it as original as possible !
But hey that Me you do you !
Good luck and have fun!!

Most of the Rebel specific parts went fast when I listed them for sale. I've still got the passenger side door panels, the plastic instrument panel parts and the glove box assembly with the "Rebel' nameplate. The dashpad and steering wheel have the red stitching. The 17" wheels are still there.
