You can decline all the connected services options when you buy. That’s what I did. Haven’t gotten the first communication from Stellantis or any of their partners.

I am under no illusion that they don’t have a data feed from the truck. I’m sure you’d have to cut the antenna wire or some similar surgery to exorcise that.

Don't sign up for Uconnect,
Don't press the 911 & Assist buttons on the mirror

Just use your cell phone if you have an 911 emergency
Assist is just answering your questions about the Ram, don't be lazy, look it up in your Owners Manual

Who really needs to use Uconnect to unlock or start your vehicle when you are several miles away from your Ram?
Tell the person that borrowed your Ram, that they should find an alternate kind of transportation.
I don't need or care about UConnect. All I want the screen to do is control whatever vehicle features I'm forced to access the screen for and play music. I'm looking at the '23 Rebel so the only screen available is the 12" essentially unless you opt for nothing in the way of additions. Also looking at Warlock but waiting to see if the new model for '23 is different. I won't be doing anything anyway till summer.

My 2022 came with the 8.4" Uconnect 5 radio and I've had zero issues with it. It is even interfaced with a Pac AMPPro for aftermarket audio. I use Android Auto for streaming music and nav and it works flawlessly. Now, I will go out to my truck after posting this and encounter a problem... :D
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, do not jinx yerself... :33:

Got 2022 classic Warlock with the Uconnect 5 , 8.4 screen no nav . It works sort of . It keeps dumping presets , steering wheel controls for calls and vr don't work right , but like most things that are new and improved are rushed to market with insufficient testing . Shove it out , hope it works and if it doesn't they will eventually fix it at the consumers inconvenience.

I'm in Canada and one of the countries largest cell phone carrier updated it's infrastructure wiped out 911 , debit machines crashed , no cell or data service for days , their response , sorry about that and blah, blah, blah.
OH, Canada !!! :33::angels25: Beautiful country, BTW...

Rogers was a mess! I had a site impacted along with many employees near Toronto.

My .02 with UConnect and the 12” screen - yes it is true that I had the black screen of death and it self-corrected (twice after sitting for an hour). Ram Cares team took my VIN and confirmed a bug in the software. Two more updates after that I have been issue free.

When you have big tech in your cars impacting so many features, I think FCA needs to up their game with their Software QA team.

The only feature I pay for is the RAM Connect software for remote truck control. It’s weird that there is a RAM mobile software bit along with the UConnect; UConnect was also way more expensive. I don’t care for the live traffic and map bits from the Tom-Tom system. I have Waze and enjoy that more anyhow.

LOL - well played :D

Rain starts again tomorrow - for sure no oil buildup, just folks sliding out due to lack of traction and driving too fast for the conditions. I was driving home at 9PM New Year’s Eve and I counted no less than 10 folks spun out over 10 miles. I just prefer to stay off the road when rain happens here (when possible) and keep my truck dent free from idiots sliding into me.

Again, if the truck you like has whatever, get it. Even the 12 inch'ers have very few issues and no more than any other brands large screen units or, even, any more issues than the mechanical knobs gave , just a few years ago. Go bakc and check threads on blend doors not functioning and all sort os issues with regular old knobs.

Get wha tyou want.

I am not a fan of uConnect, some are. I think an aftermarket product would serve almost everyone, much better than uConnect but, it;s yoru money. You can always switch things over.

Get what you want and be happy. Most screen issues are the larger one but most of them are folks who never figured out how to record on their VCR's, back in the day, so have a chuckle, gie them a smile and a Nod, then move on.

Last work van I traded in a put a Sticky 'get gas" over the Check Engine light. Didn't work but they took it anyway. It was a vacuum leak they would have to pull the dash out to get at...the last straw.

I'm hoping to buy this spring and while I am quite comfortable around computers, this would be my first vehicle with a screen. Truly, but for the fact that it's nearly impossible to avoid the U connect upgrades I probably would. At any rate this component seems to be the one I hear the most horror stories about. I could not care less about maps and Serius but it seems that so many commonly used functions are also controlled via the touch screen. I guess I am having a hard time getting a handle on why this component has been and is still popping up with so many problems.
I don’t use the UConnect. Have all functions I need. SXM, nav, all works.

I have no idea why Ram (or any car/truck company) would outsource a head end that would have so much control over the truck. I'd rather it just be a radio, backup cam screen, nav screen, hands free phone, and THAT'S ALL.

Already had it flashed , almost worked for 2 days . I guess if all I have ***** about is a wacky radio , life isn't too bad. Just annoying , pay 60,000 + for something it should damn well work as advertised.

Uconnect is a joke. Once they "upgraded" to 4G they eliminated one of the most important features, talk to text. I canceled.
