My 2019 classic still have it
Mine did too. I'm thinking it was somewhere around 2020-21 when you started seeing classics w/out it.

On my 2022 Nissan Frontier, the engine cover is made of foam rubber to soak up noise. It can double as a seat cushion or personal flotation device. I yanked it and threw it on a shelf in my garage.

The practice of omitting parts from year to year and model to model is called "decontenting" and, despite the current market or any other market experienced in the past, it's a way to increase the margin earned by the manufacturer when the vehicle is sold.

Chrysler/Dodge did the same thing with trunk lamps, underhood lamps, one vs. two gas struts to support the hood, etc...

Looks like you have a new body, OP has a classic.
Yup, posted for FYI. Also on my cover, there are 2 holes on front edges for "nut", not sure if the same cover on Classic or not.

Just beware, classics use the cover that uses the ball stud, the new DT part of stud bolt goes up through cover on 2 front corners and a "nut" gets attached, make sure U get the correct one. Picture attached is the cover for my DT 2019 truck that shows nut attached on top right front.

This is the part ref engine cover for 2019 DT and newer DT's. BUT do yer due diligence and insure Proper Part number before U order, as FCA has a bad habit of having multiple parts for certain configurations. The ole one and done does not always apply.

My 14 had the cover and about a year ago I opened the hood to check fluids and it was gone. Best i could guess someone found a way to get the hood open and stole it. Nothing was damaged.

There are used ones on Amazon for less than $100, but i haven't decided if I'm going to replace it.

Do you perform all service on it yourself or do you go to a garage / dealer? If garage / dealer it may be sitting on their bench.

I have one I'm not ever going to use again. It's a big piece of plastic that would be expensive to ship. It's off a 14 RT 5.7. I have never thought of selling or for that matter finding a box big enough for shipping but I might be convinced to do the work, if someone really wanted it. PM only.

So with these ball studs, would I need 2 of them & does the cover pop into the 2 grommet holes by the fire wall and the front of the cover pops onto the ball stud and the stud screws onto something near the engine?

The business I take truck to is a fairly small operation and I'm literally feet away from where the work is performed. Last work was to replace left front wheeling bearing. The cover was still there after that visit which brought me to my conclusion someone was able to pop the hood and removed it sometime after that work.

Seems like a odd piece to steal

I see that everyone that posted so far has the 5.7. Just thought I'd chime in that my 22 Classic with the 3.6 has a cover.

Regarding "decontenting", I did notice that my dash is missing the lower drawer at the center hump that my friend's older Express has.

Somebody with a Classic needs to chime in. I had that cover on my ED I think, Do on MY 19 DT, but as I stated in a previous post, cover for classic vs DT truck is a lil different. U could go to Mopar Parts and look at the cutaway.

I see the area on OPs driver side for the one stud that screws in, guessing there’s a little thread somewhere on the passenger side for the other. Seeing 3 out of 4 areas to secure I went ahead and ordered the damn parts. They got me good!

If you want a cover, go to a u-pull place and get one, along with hardware.

I get "de-contenting" to save money and increase margins, but this it not a good idea IMO. De-content electrical and tech parts, they save thousands. De-content a plastic cover and save a just few dollars? Not worth the impression it makes.
