Last two Ford E250's six transmissions. Not one truck reached 100k. Just work vans, no towing. The present one, '11 with a trans cooler at 90K on it's 4th.

Why single out Ford, every manufacturer has their share of issues?
That's true, but there sure are a number of people here trying to single out Ram. A little balance is warranted.

My coworker used to work for a Ford dealer. He bought a 6.0 power stroke in dually form and then he bulletproofed it. Egr delete and did head studs. He tows a 26ft toy hauler everywhere and it's been great for him. Welcome to ram though
They are good motors if you do the needed upgrades from the start lol…

Well, it is a RAM forum, so that's probably to be expected?
I bet people bash the crap out of Fords on their forum page too?

I was an avid Ford lover for probably 30 years. Until owning my Ram, almost every truck (or car) that I owned prior to that were Fords.

Until my 2008 F250. I switched to Ram after that $15k (repair costs) Powerstroke nightmare because I knew the Cummins was a reliable engine. I was convinced that the rest of the truck would fall apart around it. To my surprise the Ram was a very well built truck. So much so... that when I went to a bigger truck the only one I considered was a Ram 3500. Sure, they have their quirks (like the leaking 3rd brake light) but my Rams have never left me on the side of the road.

We kept our Expedition though because we had owned 4 that had been virtually repair free for the better part of 20 years worth of owning them. Until our 2019. After 9 months of trying to get Ford to help get us the parts to rebuild an 80k mile transmission, costing us over $4k out of pocket WHILE IN WARRANTY and watching them scramble to figure out how to fix a bad design (which they failed at) while our car sat on the lift, and then only making it 80 miles before the transmission went again... we gave up.

We've owned a 14 Durango, a 19 Charger R/T, a 14 Hard Rock Rubicon, and a 03 Jeep TJ that were all problem free.

They do all have their problems. I think it's specific to the experience of the individual and their interactions with both good and bad dealerships and good and bad manufacturer customer service reps that mold their opinions. Most people don't go online to brag on their good experiences. They go online to talk about their bad ones in hopes of having someone else avoid them.

I could have the worst experience in the world with my 2018 Ram 1500 that I own now. I've never owned a Ram with a 5.7, so who knows. But until the time that a bad experience replaces the last bad experience, this is what sticks out in my mind. I would imagine that it's similar for everyone.

I often wondered why folks go online to complain about their Truck or problems. I've done it too.

No one goes online and publicly proclaims they hooked up with an Ugly Chick.
Few brag about paying too much for anything, yet, screaming about a junk truck is perfectly acceptable behavior.

When, it is pretty much the same thing.

You bought the truck, so you obviously paid too much for what you got.
Not to mention all the headaches. Talk about getting TOOK.
Like with a Butt Ugly, triple Bagger Girlfriend, it ain't a good one
definitely nothing to brag about but thanks for letting us all know
you got one and sharing the Experience.

Human Behavior, suppose.

OP,
Welcome to the most informative Forum on the Net.
Lots of great guys here.
Cut the former Chevy / Ford Owners some slack.
They are obviously trying to improve themselves, they did buy a Ram, after all.

Yes. And Jeep on Jeep forums and if Chevy owners could read and write you'd probably find it on their forums as well.

Honestly, and I truly mean this, the best way to lose enthusiasm for a vehicle you're interested in buying for the first time is to read a forum about it. Every single machine on the planet is a giant POS you're an idiot for even considering if you pay attention to forums.

I dunno if it's that people paid too much or if there is just an expectation (sometimes maybe unrealistic) set that isn't met. I don't think most people who spend any decent amount of money on a vehicle expect to have major issues. But, as with everything else in life sometimes you'll get that lemon. That doesn't mean that you'll always get a lemon when you buy a Ford, GM, FCA, Toyota, Nissan, etc... product but if you have to take a big enough bite of your lemon you'll think twice before buying something else that reminds you of that lemon.

Also in reality we should consider a couple of things: 1) Vehicles are mechanical and mechanical things break and wear out. 2) Those mechanical things were designed, built, and are fixed by humans. And humans make mistakes. Sadly, sometimes, those mistakes end up biting the owners. I think we should all keep that in mind when buying any brand. They all have flaws. Pick the one that you know you can live with and run with it.

My technique is this: "Hey, when you bought that car, did they introduce you to the service manager or show you the service department? Or did you happen to see where the service department is at? Know why it's back there? Because their **** breaks, too"

That 10 speed is an abomination. Welcome !
Never owned one, but had a loaner for a week. Fewer miles than my 1500... Hated that 10 Speed! The shifting between gears seemed to be random.
Anecdotal, one-time experience though.
