I had a cam shaft that eroded and was misfiring. after replacing the cam, lifters, and the timing chain I had gotten the misfire to go away. started it up and it had some obvious issues (Rough idle, sputtering rpm, died after a few seconds). I assumed I had made a timing mistake so I took the front cover off and retimed it for sure this time.. started it up and now it will start well and then slowly die since it won’t idle. I had two codes which are P0480 and U1428. Checked my fuses and looked over everything i had previously done (wires and hoses) and can’t find anything wrong. Any suggestions? I have a video from the first start but it won’t let me link it.

I'm curious, if this is 2019, shouldn't this all be covered by your powertrain warranty?

I bought the truck a few months ago and it had 120,000 miles already (definitely used for traveling). The warranty is then over correct?

Me personally, have not. It looks pretty decent, do you think that could cause the sputtering and unable to idle?

I'd take a look at all of your sensors too. Check the connections and wiring for something loose or damaged.

Wonder if you bent a valve by your timing being off, these are non-interference engines, at this stage I would do a compression test, if a valve is bent you will have little or no compression in that cylinder.

I just moved back to college, had to keep the truck home. I’ll ask my grandpa to run one and see what he says. thank you!
