Thanks for the response. Here is what I’ve been seeing online, which matched the recommendation from the dealership. I’ve watched some videos online where it shows people getting low 20s highway with the same year/make/model.
And I just checked the new tires, which show being the same size as factory.
DO not mean this to be mean but are you gong to believe what you read, what we are all telling is our own experiences or, maybe a consideration, what your own fuel economy is on your truck with the fuel you use and the way you drive it?

Again, fuel economy is culmination of a few things. It is a range, dependent on how the drive train, the fuel used, the manner which one drives and the terrain involved.

For the best possible fuel economy, for any specific drive train?
Then drive downhill or on flat, level grade, use the very best fuel and keep RPM;s, as low as possible, in all situations.

Stay away from ethanol.
10% ethanol gets less mileage than non ethanol
15% ethanol gets less mileage than 10% ethanol

Buy the highest octane, possible.

Your fuel MPG will go up.

again, belive what you read or what your own vehicle is telling you it gets, up to you.

is on YOUR MSRP

or enter your VIN in the link already provided, in an earlier post

Hello,
I just recently purchased a 2021 RAM 1500 Hemi 5.7 V8 Multi Displacement VVT eTorque. The truck is in great condition, and the only thing it has new from the dealership are the tires. Its sitting on 20 inch rims, which I am not sure if they are stock or not (I know they come in 20 inch and 18 inch rims).
Anyways, I have been driving it for about a month now, and I am only getting about 13 miles per gallon. Even at the cruise set at 55 mph, I may get 15 mpg. I am supposed to be getting 17/24 mpg, and am barely getting half. I am only driving it in 2wd and have been babying it. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

So.. EPA *estimated* mileage is conducted on a usually minimally equipped vehicle, on a closed course under strict driving conditions for maximum efficiency. Unless you're driving it like they did, you aren't going to get anything that is listed on the sticker.

This is the one I have
Are you 4X4 or 2 wheel drive - (doesn't matter if you are driving in 2 wheel drive if you are 4WD)?
Stock tires or more aggressive tread tires?
Hilly areas or flat?
Length of ave. trip?
Are you calculating mpg or going off of the display? If display, are you resetting the display after you get to 55 mph and looking at the end of that trip - though again WIND and terrain, temp, traffic will greatly affect your mpg.

For ex. with my 16 I can get 20 mpg on the highway with no wind, but if the wind is coming from a frontal 45 degree angle my mpg will drop as low as 12.5 mpg.

Generally winter fuel is good for -2 to -4 mpg from summer mpg.
Most people with 3.92 gears will average 17-19 mpg at highway speeds.
Lastly, how many miles on the truck - most will improve mpg in the 7500-10k miles range.

The sticker mpg rating is for a quad cab stripped model and on a certain epa test run.

Your running a winter blend fuel and it's cold out which usually ding the fuel economy a couple of mpg. Both gasoline and diesel have winter blends in the northern states. Remote starting and letting the engine warm up will lower the dash fuel economy number also. You also need to do the mpg calculations by hand the dash is usually off on the gassers.
Not many with the Hemi toute getting over 20 mpg and that's usually highway mileage. The eTorque isn't the fuel savings miracle device that Ram states it is. If fuel economy is your main concern, you bought the wrong engine. I'll get 13 mpg with my EcoDiesel when I'm towing an 8K lbs trailer otherwise it's usually 22 mpg or better.

Yup...Winter blend and snow on the roads ect jjst drop mpg...In my 18 i push ye ole fuel peddle with a glass slipper on and egg under the peddle just to keep over 8mpg up here in eastern canada....

Now in the hemi, mpg is based on the no egg and glass slipper and i still hover around 14 based off the dash..

I know I'm opening myself up to a flaming, but I never could quite understand how anyone purchasing a known gas-guzzler could complain about 2mpg below optimum condition EPA averages. Everyone knows going in that the advertised mileages are overblown and that full-size 4X4 pickups love to consume copious amounts of gas.

Keeping an eye on mpg also alerts us to issues in case of a sudden change.

In the summer I will get 21 mpg running around 62 mph with the stock summer 20" Bridgestone tires. In the will at the same speed it will drop to 17 mpg with the 20" winter (studded) tires doing the same speed. I run about 37 psi (cold) in the tires.
I have the 3.92 gears and the 5.7 engine.

Man, I wish I could hit 13-15. But no way in hell. 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7l 4x4 on 18" XD Wheels with 35" tires. 2" lift/level (not sure which but know there are blocks in both the front and rear, was installed before purchasing the truck) I can see MPG's anywhere from high 8's to 12. Very rarely will I see it hit 12, but typically sits anywhere from 10-11. I know the tires do not help and I've pretty much got a lead foot. But I know if I feather it I can see 12s. and Magically a couple times I've hit 13-15. But only maybe twice and that was last summer coasting down the highway.

I have a 17 1500 with the Hemi and 3.24 gears, I get 22 on the hwy running 70 and about 15/16 in town. How many miles you have on it, enough that engine is broken in?

I have the 3.92 gears and averaged 19.5 with the stock Bridgestone Alenza’s. At 65,000 I just replaced with the Continental HT. Mileage dropped to approx 18.5. If you are sitting on A/T tires, not a premium brand, that could be it. I’m coming up in 70,000 miles and love this truck. Good luck!

Sorry to hear, but in my experience some RAM trucks (or maybe most?) get horrible fuel economy. I bought a 2021 Ram Rebel 1500 with the eTorque Hemi. My window sticker says 17 city / 19 combined / 22 highway.

I'm getting 14.12 MPG in the 23,000 miles since I bought the truck (I have a spreadsheet of all fuel receipts). I took the truck to my dealer due to the horrible fuel economy and they did an "official RAM" mpg test -- driving at 55 mph on the interstate for 100 miles round trip. They only got 18 MPG doing that... They claimed the truck did better than 18 (due to the lie-o-meter) but the fuel pump didn't lie.

I was running 89 octane exclusively before this test. The dealership didn't know 89 was recommended per the manual. They told me to switch to 87 and see if my MPG got better.

So summary of my experience.... the eTorque system doesn't help with MPG despite RAM's advertisement. My truck gets similar fuel economy to my last truck (a lifted 3/4 ton on mud tires). Oh, and RAM and the dealership don't care. This is the last ram 1/2 ton I'll buy.

Sorry for your experience, but it is what it is. No your truck won't "get better after it reaches 10,000 miles", no your MPG won't be 5 mpg better on summer fuel blends, and no you won't get stated window sticker MPG values with different fuel (I've tried 87, 88, and 89 in my area with no real benefit to either). It is what it is.

Your MPG is correct. Have a 2022 Laramie with 5.7 etorque. Daily driving I get 13.5 to 14.7. I use 91 octane no ethanol gas. I have 392 rare gear ratio. I have only 3000 miles on the truck. Probably it will get better but don't expect to be much better than 15MPG.

i hate to tell you this but someone needs to. The 17/21 sticker fuel millage is for the perfect conditions driving and without the extra weight of four wheel drive option. I dont know why car makers get away with this but they do. I also drive a 2021 5.7L and have four wheel drive. The best i ever see is 15 on the hwy and 12 around town and that is by manually figuring the gas millage and not relying on the dash which is always wrong. I baby my truck. It is a 2021 rebel with 4wd that is rarely used. I live in the Atlanta area and this is the mpg i see year round. Better get used to it.

My 17 gets 16.5 to 17 mpg in the cold winter but at highway speed it gets 18 at 70 mpg. In the summer 17.5 to 20 is average. Don't baby it just drive normal. Also but Top Tier gas 87 octane works best.

I got 19 on a 500 mile round trip to my daughters a couple of weekends ago. SE Michigan to western PA. 98% freeway or open 2/4 lane maintaining less than 5 over posted limits. Truck remained parked as usual while there visiting so no city driving except for the 3 miles into and out of her small town. For grocery getting I’m at 12-13.
Truck in signature.

I watch the MPG, but also understand, no where in the spelling of "Hemi" do U see the word Prius, LOL. If the Red Beast is hungry, gets fed. I get 13-18 ish city and 17-21 highway if I stay with cruise and on the highway 75 and under. But here, 75 get U run over, so end up banging 85 with 16-17 mpg on highway. Just is what it is.
