What’s everyone’s thoughts on headlight vinyl?

I had an older set of headlights that had started to delaminate, so I was going to cover them in vinyl to “hide” the lens.

I just installed brand new AlphaRex, and I’m thinking about going ahead with the vinyl to protect the new lights.

Thoughts?

My headlights are stock from a 14 ram and only kept outside 24x7x365. No delamination issues. I do wax them when I wax the truck which I'm sure helps with the UV. I prefer the wax over a film.

Adding a smoked or tinted vinyl over the headlights is going to seriously diminish output. Better off applying a ceramic coating to the new housings to protect them.

Why improve your headlights just to handicap them with this useless mod?
Like said above for protection, yes, but go clear.

I used a similar product on my 3rd brake light. I swapped in LED bulbs and added the tint. It's still brighter than before with the standard bulbs. However, I would not put a tinted version on my headlights.
