Not to insult anyone.....but if I wanted high mileage I wouldn't have bought a truck... I love the truck I have and it gets about 16 if I baby it acording to the lie-o-meter.. but I really don't care....I LOVE the truck period.... If I want mileage I take my Harley out for a spin..

Check tire pressure, add some fuel additives, change filters.
Sounds like you are driving the right way for best mileage.
Some engines are just not good at getting much mileage.
Consider upgrading your air intake, exhaust and adding a tuner if you are past warranty.

Keeping an eye on mpg also alerts us to issues in case of a sudden change.
I do as well. But I don't sweat a couple of MPG difference. Can you believe owners complaining about lousy MPGs while towing a 3k trailer? I swear, some people would complain if their ice cream was cold.

I bought a 2018 Ram Big Horn CC 2wd 5.7 hemi and I am getting 12mpg, I am going to check the rear end gear ratio to see what gears I have. I really love the truck, but the mpg sucks so far.

Not insulted, and I get it. I take my Honda CBR 1000 RR when I want great MPG (maybe my next bike will be a Harley?).

That being said, I struggle to justify the poor MPG that many of these RAMs get. My old lifted 2500HD did about the same on mud tires. My friend owns a 2020 Silverado 2500HD gasser, runs the cheapest fuel he can buy, drives like the police are after him, and gets 14-15 mpg (hand calculated) consistently on winter fuel!

His 2500HD: weighs about 1,500 lbs more, has the aero dynamics of a brick, has more HP (401) and torque (464), more displacement (6.6L), no cylinder deactivation, and mated to a 6-speed transmission, and it out-performs my little 1500 Rebel!

My rebel has the hybrid eTorque system, a smaller displacement 5.7L Hemi, eco 4-cylinder mode, 395 hp / 410 tq, and an 8 speed trans

I guess what I'm saying is if I had known it was this bad, I'd have bought a 3/4 ton truck instead.

I had a 2019 Classic Bighorn w/V-8, 3.21 gears. At the pump (Over 3 years), not towing 20mpg, towing a 2600# boat 16.5mpg. I just bought a 22 1500 Laramie with 3.92 gears. Not towing is 18.4mpg. Haven't towed with it yet. Both had 20" wheels

So from my experience with previous vehicles, tires and driving style make a huge difference. Going from passenger rated street tires to off-road MS tires knocked an easy 5mpg off on my Kia Sportage. I haven't had my 2015 ram 1500 tradesman long enough to need to change tires, but I get 17mpg by keeping my foot out of it, having a 2wd single cab, with low profile street tires on 20s. It's got a "sport tune" and a rear end swap from the previous owner, and it goes like hell if you put your foot in it, but one aggressive trip up the highway onramp will drop the milage by about .5 on the display. And about another 1mpg less with the bed cover off. Any snow on the ground drops it pretty bad too. My dad only gets about 11 out of his 2017 1500 (unknown trim) crew cab.

after 15 yrs feeding my V-10 Dodge 2500, I'm thrilled with anything over 9mpg.

Though, the fact my Wife can drive my truck, get 4 to 5 mpg more, sorta ticks me off
....until I realize how she drives, then I'm glad, all over again.

Man, I wish I could hit 13-15. But no way in hell. 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7l 4x4 on 18" XD Wheels with 35" tires. 2" lift/level (not sure which but know there are blocks in both the front and rear, was installed before purchasing the truck) I can see MPG's anywhere from high 8's to 12. Very rarely will I see it hit 12, but typically sits anywhere from 10-11. I know the tires do not help and I've pretty much got a lead foot. But I know if I feather it I can see 12s. and Magically a couple times I've hit 13-15. But only maybe twice and that was last summer coasting down the highway.
That is the tires and lift AND Kansas. I never get good mpg in Kansas, somehow I end up driving into a headwind going east and west on I70.
Between Pa. and Co. I will get my poorest mpg when going through Kansas - it is a given and every trip.

Comparing MPG in trucks, cars or any vehicle is the same as comparing apples and oranges. There are just too many variables. But even with low profile tires inflated to max pressure and a driving like an egg is under foot, the options and weight, 4/WD versus 2/ED, the engine build tolerances and environmental variables are what they are. Drive at reasonable speeds and not like a jack rabbit and you will get what you are going to get. No two trucks, even when optioned identical and driven the same, will ever get the same MPG. Enjoy the truck and get the best you can get with this truck. If you are worried so much about MPG, get a car.

I have a 2013 SLT with 5.7 and 355's, factory 20's. I change the plugs ever 30,000. For the last 8000 miles i have averaged 11.5 mostly in town. The best I have ever got on the highway was 20. When I was commuting 60 miles a day round trip I would get 17

Mileage in a truck is possible. The way people drive affects it a lot. The new emission technology is somewhat of a challenge.

I just sold my old 2002 one ton Ford, 7.3 diesel, auto, 3.73 rear. I got a measured best 23.8 mpg with cruise control on a whole tank of fuel. Less air pollution control, no DEF, added air intake, larger exhaust and a tuner.

New Ram diesel gets 20 and a little more on the highway with cruise control according to the dash. When the engine breaks in a little more I will measure it for real.

I am a hypermiler. When a traffic light turns red a 1/2 mile ahead, I am already slowing down for it. People race by me and then hit their brakes. They get 15 mpg.

Hello,
I just recently purchased a 2021 RAM 1500 Hemi 5.7 V8 Multi Displacement VVT eTorque. The truck is in great condition, and the only thing it has new from the dealership are the tires. Its sitting on 20 inch rims, which I am not sure if they are stock or not (I know they come in 20 inch and 18 inch rims).
Anyways, I have been driving it for about a month now, and I am only getting about 13 miles per gallon. Even at the cruise set at 55 mph, I may get 15 mpg. I am supposed to be getting 17/24 mpg, and am barely getting half. I am only driving it in 2wd and have been babying it. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Checkout sites like Fuelly.. I think the avg for the Hemi 2019-2022 RAM 1500's is right around 15.5mpg.

I'm 90% Hwy driving, take frequent longer trips, and my commute is roughly 80 miles round trip of backroads / highway.. the lifetime on my truck is just under 16 mpg (hand calculated).

You'll also find that the dash (Lie-o-Meter) display is a bit optimistic, by 1/2 to 1 1/2 mpg.

I too am dealing with decreased fuel economy. My Ram is a 2021, eTorque 5.7, Limited. I started out getting a range of 615 miles per tank at fill up but since the range has change to 542 as of todays fill up. I keep the oil changed, alignment and rotation every 2 months through a lifetime alignment program I purchased. I have been disciplined to use 89 octane or 87 with an octane booster. I am on the road a lot with my job and have accumulated 45K miles on my baby already. My best MPG was 21 on the highway now 17-19 MPG, and tires & rim (size 22) stock.

Its called Winter gas, they make changes to the gas for the winter an in doing so you get lower fuel mileage, also gas mixed with ethanol will lower your gas mileage as the amount of ethanol will vary from station to station....

Took a little drive the other day to check highway milage, as most of mine is short trips to town at 15/16 mpg.
