Tire pressure on factory tires is 35 psi.
I put new tires on 22 Ram Bighorn.
285/55/20. AT 10 ply
What do you recommend for air pressure in these tires?
Sidewall says 80 psi max.

Go to website of tire manufacturer and see what they recommend. Anything said would be Internet Guessnosis. But unless you were loaded to the gills, sure as heck not run 80 psi, lol.

ADDED: Watch PSI with cold weather. I cranked up the Red Beast and my tire pressure was 4 lbs low, due to monster cold, so drove to my garage and filled up to PSI I run, just saying. I do not want to run too low, since I am running Falkens, which R C rated 5 ply, I do not need 10 ply, not pushing that type of load or towing that heavy when I do tow. Just my particular set of circumstances.

Yeah I wouldn’t run max pressure. I’m running 40 psi now, but wondering what others are running with like tires.

I have BFG K02's for my summers 285/65R20 10 ply and run 39 to 40 psi and I find it to be the perfect pressure for wear and fuel economy.

Similarly, I run the same pressure in my winter 17" set up as well with Blizzak DM-V2's in use, and same thing.

I've not ever had scalloping, feathering, center wear, inner or outer wear issues on any of my tires.

I check and adjust tire pressure every couple of weeks, and I do an alignment check and adjust if needed, twice a year (when I switch from one season to another).

My 10 ply E range on my 1500 I run at 50-55 PSI in the fronts and 45 PSI in the rears.
These are my snows this will be there 3rd season and the wear is good and even across the tires.

If you put 10 plys on a 1500, just go with whatever the sticker on the door frame says. The only reason I could see going with more pressure is if you intend to overload the truck. The 10 plies will probably already ride rougher even at the recommended pressure. No sense making that any worse by over inflating them.

There is a website that shows you how to set the pressure. I do not have the link on my phone but you should be able to search it

A link to a tire pressure calculator;

Actually you would be incorrect in that assessment.
The RAM Rebel with the E range LT tires door sticker recommends 55/45psi F/R.
The door sticker is only correct for the tires listed on that door sticker.

I always ran mine at 60+ psi but I am in the minority on that. Towing or heavy loads was 80 psi.

I prefer the stiffer sidewall and higher load capacity. Tire wear was always pretty close to even across the tread.

That was on my 3/4 ton HD truck. I'd do the same for this truck if I had E-rated.

My XL-rated tires are max 50 psi and I run them around 45 psi.

Toyo has a the TRA data for the common tires so go to the following link and pull the table. Just look up the load of the old tire at the placard pressure and then pull the pressure for the new tire that provides that load.

@Pines19 , I second the use of the TireSize.com "Calculate New Tire Pressure" calculator that @Farmer Fran and @LouM reference. It takes into account your stock tire size, stock pressure from your placard, new tire size, and payload capacity to calculate a new pressure, and it includes the 10% factor recommended when switching between P-metric to LT-metric tires. I believe it's based on the tire loading tables generated by the Tire and Rim Association, and it's by far the most comprehensive and reasonable method I know to come up with a new tire pressure for your new size tires. It's basically a calculator for the process linked to by @lpennock above.

My stock psi was 36psi. I now run Continental terrain contact in stock size. I now run 36. But still looking for optimum. According to most sites same size is same pressure.

285/45-22 size

Handy tool (and bookmarked now). I've never used that before.

As an "old guy" I always default to printed documents I can put in my map pockets:

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, I just installed aggressive ATs on my truck. Size 315/70R17.
The installation shop put them at 40 psi.
I notice that after 100 kph, there are vibrations on the right side... These are side to side. I was told that perhaps the tires were over inflated. So far we've checked the balancing twice.

Psi within 10psi of the door sticker will not cause vibration. It’s a balance issue
