Test drove the second Power Wagon, much much better than the first one I test drove and something that wouldn’t bother me, but still not quite as nice as the Laramie.

I also got to see the Olive Green which was my first choice, but it’s a bit dull and not for me

Of course they had a Hydro Blue TRX so I took that for a test drive. Exhaust note and SC whine are amazing, the ride is very very comfortable…like REALLY comfortable. As for power/speed, don’t take this the wrong way as I have a C7 Z06, the TRX is a fast pickup, but not a fast vehicle. Fun for sure

So now I’m down to 2500 Rebel and either white (which I know I love) or Hydro Blue which looked great on the TRX

A 16 PW generally won’t get as good as a 2019 or newer PW. Totally agree on the towing tho. Mine is rated for 10,999 lbs and would feel safer towing that then 7500 with a wagoneer

Yea no doubt on the mpg’s….i wanna slip that 8 speed in my wagon soooooo bad haaaa. Ive never seen more than 13.5 mpg average when trying, usually more like 12…10-11 in the winter.

Why in the flippin heck do they put .67 pounds at the end of the towing and payload numbers lmao.

I thought that was funny too. the door sticker rounded up on payload :)

Perhaps an artifact from conversion from metric? Just spitballing, no idea if it's not that.

Definitely makes sense i guess…although they do show both on the door sticker with no decimals on either.

No not when towing
But for the 2500 I’m expecting 12-13 mpg for normal driving and the 1500 18-19 mpg?

I guess my math of double was way off, I meant 50% more

Are my 1500 mpg estimates off under normal driving? 75% highway miles
1500 Rebel with the 3rd gen EcoDiesel will get you close to 30 hwy mpg...

I believe the towing #s are way down on that trim?
According to Rams site, 1600 lbs less towing and 30 lbs less payload

Any thoughts on towing a 28’ enclosed car trailer (~4500 lbs) with a C7 Z06 (~3700 lbs)? Terrifying or walk in the park?

Can tow that fine with my 1500 rebel. Towed with max with out any issues.
The diesel numbers are lower because of the weight.

Pick what you can afford, what looks best for you, and what can handle your present and future needs.
If you don't need 2500, 1500 is better option.

If you aren't off-roading. then don't get those options.

you can tow that much with a half ton but you will be happier towing with a 3/4 or 1 ton. with a HD you can take every thing you want including the kitchen sink vs trying to keep lighter. I suppose if you are towing in the flat land it is no big deal but if you you plan on towing in the mountains might want to consider that. If I were looking at a gasser to tow with it would definitely be a Ford 7.3 gasser tho.

Weight Distribution Hitch with anti-sway bars. Don't drive stupid and You'll be fine.

So LarryM13, how did the second test drive go, and what did you finally settle on?

The second test drive was much much better, but I did feel that constant vibration, but a severely lower extent. Enough to believe I’d be ok with it

I’m strongly leading towards the Rebel 2500 with air suspension. Funny enough I was ready to send in an order while still deciding on some options and I noticed the 2500 Rebel doesn’t come with the rear view mirror camera which enraged me because there are several YouTube demo cars where this is discussed and featured and I thought it was cool…an expected on a gasoline $84k 2500 pickup truck

I’m probably a bit over sensitive at the moment. I’ve been trying to get a diesel Yukon XL or Escalade Sport ESV for 2 years and refuse to pay over MSRP, but even with orders being in, it’s not being made. (I will cancel that order once I officially go with the Rebel)

I did go to a Ford dealership to check out their offerings. While they’re priced thousands less than Rams, they’re so uninspiring. Ironically enough they had a 1500 Rebel there with the Ram boxes…damn those are so cool

Don't overrate that.
My PW has the digital rear-view mirror, but I have to admit I don't use it. Yes, the screen is nice and you get a very good view of what is going on behind you. As a negative, it's hard to judge distances because the mirror is not where the camera is.
BUT: it is a digital display, not a mirror. Meaning that when you look at it, you have to focus your eyes to near-distance. That is not the case with a real mirror, here your eyes are focused on the object in the mirror.
As one normally focuses the eyes to far-distance when driving, that need to re-focus every time I looked into the rearview mirror quickly became annoying.
I may be special because I don't have to do the same when checking my speedometer thanks to my progressive lenses, which obviously doesn't work for the rearview mirror, so it might not be an issue to anyone else.

Yeah, those are issues for folks that need reading glasses. I have the same problem. I'm getting used to it though. You just have to be happy with a little less detail when looking at the digital image, or tilt your head way up to look through your reader area on your glasses. I like it from a peripheral view. Gives a wider, unblocked vision out the back. And you know when it's safe to change lanes.

But you can always change it to a normal mirror with the flick of a switch, and then just use it for the trailering camera (if you have that option).

So Larry, what did you end up buying?
Unfortunately nothing yet, there was a 2500 Rebel coming into a local dealership. I had a test drive scheduled but it sold over the weekend before I got there :(

Now that we're into March, I can wait a little bit so I want to make sure I get to test drive it before I make a decision

I did test drive another Power Wagon (the dealer that sold the 2500 Rebel), and it did drive comfortably enough for me. My guess, the first one I drove had something off

Also keep in mind that a 2500/3500 will have more cooling capacity than a 1500 for when you haul close to max capacity

i thought my powerwagon was driving ok till i swapped the duratacs for ridge grapplers.of all my trucks i've owned over the years, this one is by far my favourite.it tows my '21 ft deck boat, travel trailer or my trailered side by side without any drama whatsoever.it will be interesting to see how the wifes cybertruck rides.if NJ winters are anything like western Canadian winters, you would love the Powerwagon.i don't know about the other models, but i love how the remote start heats the steering wheel and the seats, and the off road pages has all the towing gauges you'll ever need.
