I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn V6 eTorque.

The owner's manual says if the outside temp is below 40 degrees, remote start will automatically engage the front and rear defroster. This is exactly how the system worked for the first two winters. Remote start on cold day > unlock and enter > both the front and rear defrost are on and the indicator light are on for those functions. THIS winter, 22/23, the rear defroster is on but the front is NOT. The behavior seems erratic since sometime the front defrost seems to be working (high speed blowing of warm air) and other times not. The front defrost indicator light is NEVER on and the rear defroster indicator light IS.

I have been to the dealer and they tell me that ALL the sensors test out OK and the times they tried it, the front defroster IS blowing warm air. (No indicator light).

If I manually turn on the front defroster, the front defroster works and the indicator light comes on.

To me, the value of the remote start is warming up the truck AND defrosting the windows so this is very annoying.

Any ideas?

Check the remote start and regular start up settings in the settings menu. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve accidentally changed something while poking around.

Same here. Seats are warm, mirrors and rear window is clear and blower is blowing but NOT the front window defrosting blower. That front window 1/4” ice is perfectly intact. I figured she was pissed like all the rest of em.

I thought that when the defrost is working, it blows Chilly air

Wouldn't warm air cause window fogging & condensation build up, HOT air might cause window cracking

seats & steering wheel warm up at approximately 40°F
