Wondering what everybody is running in the non projector headlights? I changed out my halogens for all LEDs with decoders, besides the fact they throw "low beam out" codes on the dash the low beams are just not very bright at all and can see them flicker every now and then. The high beams are really bright but the drivers side will quit randomly and the Fog lights quit completely. Is a set of morimoto xb hybrids worth the money or will HIDs do the job?

Thanks in advance for any input!

You need to change the truck settings with alfaobd.

Have you tried different LEDs? I have the basic quad reflector headlights in my 2018 BigHorn, no issues running LEDs for over two years. The low beams are so bright the high beams only offer a larger illuminated area without greater brightness. I do have AlfaOBD and have the truck programmed to accept LED lighting.

With the alphaobd does that allow me to get rid of the decoders I have for the LEDs?

Yes it does. I’m an AlfaOBD fanboy. The initial cost can be steep but it’s a fantastic tool that pays for itself over time. I’ve changed my tire size, set my truck up for LED operation, programmed key fobs, added a trailer brake controller, added keyless N go and programmed an RF hub. The software is $50, Bluetooth OBD dongle is around $75, security bypass harness if you have a 2018 or newer vehicle is about $100 and you’ll need an android tablet or phone. Just to program a new key fob at the dealer was almost $300 so for me the AlfaOBD made
sense.

Added to a 4th gen? How much effort did that take?
I naively thought it would be easy after coming across the write up on how to do it in the AlfaOBD section of this forum. It wasn’t difficult skill wise but it took longer than expected and there is a learning curve. I knew nothing about Ram trucks at the time or about AlfaOBD. It all started because a coworker gave me the push button start mechanism. From there I purchased four receiver antennas, two proximity handles and built the wire harness from scratch. There is a learning curve on making pin connections plus the cost of the tool. The OEM type wire connections were easy to source and inexpensive. I also found out the hard way that a 2018 does not necessarily have the proper RF hub and that was a $150 mistake plus later model trucks need a security bypass harness, again added expense. Once you have all the parts you get to remove all four door panels, lower dash kick panel, remove the rear seats and all door sills along with weather strip to run the harnesses and install handles and antennas. Nothing is difficult just time consuming and tedious.
