Stupidest of all questions I know lol… but i can’t figure out how to reset the oil change reminder on my 09 1500. I did an oil change when I bought it but can’t figure out how to get rid of the pop up reminder thing, YouTube said to press the gas pedal 3 times in accessory mode and then start, another said to press it 5 times, neither worked.

I'm challenging my memory but did you also try it with the ign in the "ON" mode?:

1) Put the tk in the 'on' position without starting the engine. 2) Press the gas pedal to the floor three times within ten seconds. After that 3) turn the engine over and start the truck. The oil reminder light should go off till it need to remind you in the future.

My truck (2012) manual says to turn the engine 'off' after the 3x presses.

See if either combo does it.

Good luck!

If I remember correctly on mine, key to run position, floor gas pedal three times, then key off, not start.

To follow up - out of my owners manual

To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the
scheduled maintenance), refer to the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not
start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three
times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.

I think it’s messed up lol. I’m planning on getting Alfaobd soon, maybe I can take care of it in there?

I don’t have the owners manual for mine, and those methods are both for newer rams. That option isn’t there on mine
Out of 2009 Owners Manual:

CHANgE OIL Message
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change
indicator system. The “CHANgE OIL” message will flash
in the instrument cluster odometer for approximately
12 seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate
the next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil
change indicator system is duty cycle based, which
means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate
dependent upon your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN
position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and
release the Trip Odometer button on the instrument
cluster. To reset the oil change indicator system (after
performing the scheduled maintenance), refer to the
following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position
(Do not
start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three
times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE:
If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the engine, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.

ALL I got for U.

I appreciate it but I’ve already tried that and every other combination I can think of to no avail. I think my remaining options are to live with it or hope Alfaobd can take care of it.

Maybe it’s worth mentioning I also tried a very similar procedure to turn off the seatbelt chime (turn key to on, buckle and unbuckle 3 times) and that didn’t work either.

U could unhook battery cables and let them clear out, re-hook up and try the procedure again. Not anything else I can think of. Alfaobd on a 2009, hmmm, not know enuf about it to say.

Yeah I may as well give that a shot, thanks. From what I’ve read Alfaobd works on 09+ so I’m right at the bottom but it should work.

Are you sure you're turning the key to "start" and not just to "on". The gas pedal trick is an industry standard and works on the majority of vehicles sold in North America, not all vehicles, but it works on Chyrsler / Ford / GM trucks and cars for sure

If I turn it to start, the truck will start obviously. The instructions in the owners manual as posted earlier in this thread only say to turn it to the on position and not to start it:

"Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not start the engine)."

Don't step on the brake and try turning the switch 1 clic farther.
