My 2020 RAM is disabled when locked.
My 2022 Wrangler has to be on for it to work.

So RAM is live and Wrangler is key on.

Just fun facts

OK, that explains my statement, because when i press the Homelink button, i am standing outside of the Ram & reaching in to press the button, so the Rams door would be open & security would be disabled.

I got curious about this so today on my way out, I did a test. My truck is mostly in the garage when I'm not driving it. So I got in the truck and pushed the buttoon...the door went up. So I locked the door and hit the button again...the door went down. With the door still locked, I pressed the button...door went up again. 2022 Ram 2500 Bighorn with homelink.

So what's thee big deal? Remember the old days when your garage door opener was a separate device that was clipped to your sun visor? This isn't any worse.

I think that security was the issue

If a thief can enter your vehicle without a FOB, if you have a garage they can use Homelink to enter your driveway gate or garage & from there enter an attached garage

Ram is making theft way to easy, with all of the conveniences

The Smart FOBs make theft so easy, it makes anyone with a bit of knowledge about radio waves can enter your vehicle, all they have to do is be nearby with a receiver set to the 433 Mhz frequency.

When you press your FOB button, they can record the signal that your FOB transmits, your vehicle flashes its lights or beeps its horn to tell your Fob that it is there & ready to receive any Commands, like Lock, Unlock, Blast your horn, or Remote Start.

So now the thieves know where the vehicle is & they already have the recorded signal

I am glad that my Passive FOB only has a range of 30 feet
My garage door opener only has a range of 50 feet

My next purchase vehicle wise is going to be a Faraday box for my spare FOBs & a Faraday Pouch for my primary FOB

Of course it could wrap the spare FOB in Tin Foil or remove the battery, both block any signal being sent to the vehicles.
......................................................................

By the way, one of our members had his Ram stolen, he had a tracker & police caught the thieves, the device that was used to capture the signal was still in the vehicle.
Part of the device looked similar to part of a Ram Infotainment system

For some unknown reason the thieves were in possession of something that looked like part of a radio, it was under the seat when the police searched the vehicle

I had to edit the original post, to sort of correct my post

It was an unrelated radio left in the vehicle. That's quite a jump to that's what's stealing fob signals.

Ok, that sounds curious
why steal a new vehicle while carrying a large section of an older radio
