Good evening gents,

My name is Scott I am a plumber & gas fitter based out of norther Alberta Canada. I HAD a really nice 2012 RAM 1500 sport with 220kms until Nov 2 2022. It was stolen along with 95% of my tools, my phone, a camera, plus a bunch of other stuff. Really knocked me down a few pegs. I was actually in love with that truck. I had owned a 2009 GMC Sierra hybrid & a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado but that RAM sport kicked the crap out of both or them (& the ford platinum we used to drive up in the Yukon for a work truck).

Needless to say it was a bitter pill to swallow when I did finally get a call on Dec 30 that my truck had been found. It was stolen from a First Nation reservation while I (thought) I was assisting a family in need of water in the middle of a blizzard. Needless to say it was completely destroyed & contaminated with fentanyl & ****.

Rest In Peace old friend. We made memories that I never thought possible & you NEVER ONCE left me stranded. Even the time I snapped a CV axle. I won’t ever forget the hard kilometres we put in together in pursuit of plumbing excellence & adventures across the land!

I did (finally) get some insurance money. After a few months I was able to purchase a RAM 2015 SXT. Only 90,000 KMS. I test drove it for an hour. Scanned it. Got right under it, got right in the engine bay. It seemed like a good deal. At any rate after about ten days I got a p0208, I cleared it. About an hour later I got p0308 & she was skipping around. What are the odds I just bought a lemon?

I really enjoy reading the posts in here they helped me change my PCV & other random things on my last truck. I still love the power, space, rugged look & cabin of the RAM. I’m hoping I didn’t just sign up for an unplanned cam/lifter job…..

Update: when I use my scan tool I can see the pulse width of all my injectors. All of them are working about to micro seconds of each other EXCEPT cylinder 5 & 6 they are at zero

are there any easier ways to diagnose? It’s under extended power train warranty so stealership is taking a look on Thursday morning.

Thanks. It was kind of an introduction & a question all rolled into one. Haven’t even owned my new truck for 2 weeks. Hope it isn’t a lemon

It’s not the best scan tool but it’s what I have. I pulled up all the fuel injector data I could. I reved to 2000 RPM. I am wondering why I’m getting zero micro second pulse width in cylinder 5 & 6?

You can pull a coil and check it for electrical micro-traces and ohm out too. Should be easy for an electrician. And the plugs. Check for corroded wire terminals too (being you're in Canada). If you have 1 plug out per cylinder, might not hurt to do a compression test just so you know where things are at. Preferrably engine warm ...4-5 'puffs' per cylinder.

Sorry to hear your truck situation. What a bummer. You seem to be handling it better than most would. I give you credit for that. It got me thinking, I was in contracting/engineering for many years. Just about all the techs whom I worked with over the many years, told me they never locked their service vans at new construction or at service jobs -- ever. And the guys I talked to never had anything ever stolen despite a back window full of gauges and such. Some jobs we did were in real touch-n-go places too. Of course, some of our guys, you'd really have to 'dig' through hoses and extension chords to find meaningful items. The only times people reported problems was if something like a power tool got stolen out of their trucks on a weekend at their homes. But even that was pretty rare. Our thieves must be lazier around here...

Nice truck! Hopefully you'll get the bugs worked out and never have another issue.

Welcome, sorry to hear your truck was stolen. Hope you get your new truck up and running perfectly. At least you have a warranty to cover this.

I think you'll find that you were on the right path.

You're getting a misfire code (P0308) because of the P0208. This likely generated by the following:

1. Fuel injector 8 is defective
2. Fuel injector 8 control circuit is either shorted to ground, or circuit is open or has high resistance
3. ASD relay circuit is either open, high resistance, or ASD fuse is open
4. Powertrain control module driver circuit (no output)
