Took the truck to the shop yesterday. Issue i'm having is random misfire. Compression on one of the cylinders is at 125, hoping that it's gunked up somewhere. Oil pressure drops to around 33 psi at warm idle. Last issue is that I've got code p1004 the short runner control valve.

In the past I have taken off the intake manifold and changed the short runner actuator and cleaned up the intake manifold and still having the issue. I don't think a new intake manifold would fix the issue or not. Don't really want to throw money at random parts.

Any advice or knowledge is much appreciated. Truck is a 2014 2500 with 205,000 miles. Have a chance to buy a rebuild for 2500 dollars. I know it would fix the low compression and low oil pressure just not sure about the short runner valve issue.

I think your warm oil pressure is fine. My 6.4 with 94k is 32 at idle when warm.

Still seems strange. I've had a couple guys at my work show me theirs and their warm pressure was about 45 psi.

Oil viscosity has a effect on your warm idle pressure are you using a 5w 20w that they recommend, try bumping it up to a 5w 30w, my truck new gets 35 hot idle and 55 highway speed, misfire could be a few things injector, coil pack or the good old cam and lifter problem have them take the valve covers off to check rocker arm travel. Hope all goes well.

I've been using 5w 30 for about a year and half on in it. city and highway is usually 45 to 50. I mentioned cam lobes going to **** on these motors. I'll mention that and the lifters and tell him about the rocker travel.

Hi there malsap82 I have a similar problem with my 2014 Ram 1500 5.7L gas engine with 170.000klm that gave me a p2016 engine light that is the (Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve) part number 53022137AJ I got one of eBey with a (Oil Control Valve) part number 53022338AB now when I install the Runner does it need any special tuning or is it a straight installation at the same time I’m going to install the Oil Control Valve is there any other sensors or valve under the intake that I should worry about.

Put a can or two of Seafoam in your gas. It clears up a lot of random misfire issues. Doesn't always work but at 6 bucks a can it is a really cheap fix for many fuel system issues. Couple of guys on recent other threads did it when I suggested it, fixed both of their misfire issues.

I put a can in mine every 15,000 klms. Have never had a vehicle with fuel problems, misfires etc. and many went 350,000+ klms.
