Ive tortured myself on matte black or color matched. Never pulled the trigger on either. Both would look fine on my truck. But my preference would be minimalist, nothing over factory size. Fake rivets/bolts meh…big bulky fat flares not my style.
Unless you have other matte accessories or accents, color match would be my advice. Sports are sleek and predominantly all color matched.
So theres my opinion fwiw.

Ya nothing quite looks right with the sport bumper the more I look, I think I'm going to try no flares this spring and do the touch up painting as needed.

On a Sport, I’d go factory style, colormatch. Even if you bought them unpainted, they would probably pretty easy to paint. Just find a local parts shop that has an automotive paint counter, they can match your paint and mix you up a rattlecan of it. Theyre plastic flares and would paint well. This stuff:

I personally think a gray or silver would look better with your red. Or even White. Just my opinion.
You do you.
My 96 is the red and black combo and I have always liked it. Very distinctive paint job you don't see all that often. That said, silver is actually in the running too, but I had not thought about white, that is an interesting idea. Sort of like the old Starsky and Hutch Torino. Thanks for the perspective.

wanna sell the old ones cheap? i want a set to paint.

Ya I could, they're not pretty and the gasket is basically falling apart, really would just want enough to cover shipping. Probably wont pull the trigger on anything till spring warms it up enough to paint in my garage though.

I have the pocket style flares and a pocket style hood protector to match, my truck is black and I already have bullet line about 12" up down each side and on the rear bumper so I am going to have them bed lined to match... what I'm uncertain on is whether to also do the bed liner on my grill.. other than the mirrors I don't have anything else matte black... I saw a pic of a truck with the grille done and I think it looks good, but he has a big off road bumper and I like the look of my express bumper so I plan to keep it..

These eBay grilles are inexpensive enough that I may just go ahead and have it sprayed... easy enough to get another one if I hate it.

I personally prefer oem 2500 flares on the Sports, not sure how the Rebel flares match up? I had already ruined my paint with pocket style flares so I was committed to something else the same size. Got sick of the rivet look so went with the smooth style. Hard to track down, at least in Canada, for these with the cut out around the headlight

Thanks for sharing, saw those but there weren't any customer pictures to get a good feel for them. They look good.
How would you review them?
Overall I like them; and they have seem to hold up pretty well so far (minus whatever happened near the bottom rear bolt on the front driver side that broke and made a decent hole in it). The rubber 'gasket' (between the fender and truck) or whatever they call could use some work.
They are wide for sure; but I also got them because I did NOT see anyone else with them; i get plenty of comments on them as well

Do you have any pics from the front that show how they sit with the sport bumper?

What type of paint/Lynex/Armarguard material did you use to paint the matt flares and what looks like a protective strip down the side of the whole truck. I ask becasue I am planning to do that to mine, except in gloss finish. I like the look of what I can see on the top two pictures.

I had a shop do color matched Line-X on the rockers and beneath the flares. It actually does have a gloss look to it when clean. Been holding up good for the past 10 years or so.
Had them done when I lived in Alberta, seemed real common up there. Haven't really seen it at all on the East coast.
The flares themselves are just color matched, no Line-X.

That’s what I found on my phone. I can try to get a different angle later

Ignore that red grill
