$9k is more than enough for a 'run of the mill' 6.4L swap. Dollar for dollar, I'll get more from a 6.4L swap than an intake manifold.

Unless that intake manifold sucks other things than air. :)

Hmmmmm, Let me think about this. A brand new MMX 5.7 Hemi full crate or a intake manifold that should be made of solid gold for that price lol.

* wah, there's no support for us *
# companies produce parts #
* wah, it's too expensive *

They're still going to have to sell quite a few of them just to pay the cost of getting the first one made. I'll never need one, but I'm glad it exists.

Nobody "needs" one. And nobody is asking for just parts, most of us have a unspoken qualifier, like parts that I can afford and that I find useful.

Those companies producing parts aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts just because they heard our "complaining" and feel bad for us. They're making money (or not, in this case). If they did the math beforehand and figured a $9000 CAD intake would sell and they could recoup their costs, then I say go for it. This lad is going to hard pass though.

This plus there's an element of "let's run this CAD drawing out to see if there is any interest before we cut the first one" at play here.

A friend of mine makes them out of steel in single or dual quad. Probably lighter than a aluminum one and way under a grand. If you can live with the weird and ugly part. He also puts distributors in them. If anyone wants a look let me know.

How did he get steel to weigh less than aluminum?

Sheet metal intakes are generally fairly light,and usually are lighter then a comparable aluminium intake

I'll see if I can find a pic or too. Hes too busy making them to have a website. Thats crazy talk for this guy. Basicly he makes them and if you want it coated or spray bombed thats up to you. I would thermo coat it maybe and all the vvt stuff is taken out.

I think on the vvt motor with the dual fitech setup he took all that crap out. And usually the front drive is made from a truck or car cover and a sbc distributor whittled into whatever he needs really. Can be a stock looking one. hei or a big jesus mag for you to stare at but really simple for him but time consuming.
