This is my 1st post on here. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

I’ve read everywhere and haven’t found anyone that’s actually used Amsoil in the 5th gen Ram with the 8 speed zt transmission. I have read on here that Red Line has caused slipping issues and that Amsoil “should be fine”. Has anyone personally used Amsoil fluid on their 5th gen Ram transmission yet. Is it really best to use the ridiculously expensive 8-9 speed fluid? Thanks!

I haven't followed this transmission for awhile. I know when I had my 4th gen 1500 I used valvoline max life which is ZF rated. I never had issues for 20k after flush. I know there is a lot of threads on what people are using but not necessarily amsoil though.

Keep in mind the 8 speed in the 6.4 2500 I have does not have a dip stick, to check or fill the transmission. Supposed to be good for 100K. I'm about to hit 20K and I'm looking for an Amsoil dealer to swap it out.

Go to the 4th Gen section, you'll find way more info on fluid for the ZF transmissions

General Info: when my 2014 Ram had 50K miles I went to the dealer for price
and availability of transmission oil. At that time it was $32, and change a qt.
My son an Master Tech went back and they sold it to him at dealer cost at $19,
and change.

He now has the truck and said he will use Amsoil. When he changes it at 100K.
