Hope I have this in the correct area of the forum.

2015 Ram 1500 Express Crew Cab 4x4 5.7L key start.

We added the Start-X remote starter. It was an easy plug n play, flash program installation.

3 pushes of the key fob lock button and the truck starts right up.

All seemed great until the truck began randomly starting with only one push of the lock button on the key fob. It does this maybe 50% of the time.

I emailed Start-X and they told me to reset the module and reprogram it. My internet was down and I haven't had the chance to do this yet, but figured I'd ask if anyone has had similar problems.

Thanks

Not familiar with Start-X but feel rather confident your issue is solely caused by the Start-X.
I recommend you do exactly as they state and continue dealing, with Start-X, to figure out your problem.

Good Luck to you and please, post your solution , here, so another with a similar issue may be helped.

again, Good Luck

Ok, fooled around with this thing today.
It was very frustrating.

I will note that when I originally installed it a few weeks ago, it worked just fine. Then it began remote starting with only one push of the lock button about 50% of the time.

Working on it today I must have reset it, reinstalled the firmware, went through the in-vehicle steps of programming and reflashed it maybe10 times!

Each time I tried resetting it the truck did some wacky stuff like locking by itself, remote start not working, repeat unending locking itself without any input from me, but I think I finally got it.

It remote starts with 3 pushes of the key fob lock button as it should and no longer starts with only one push of the lock button...so far!

Only time will tell if this thing is in fact working properly.

I will update if there are any more problems.

Might not hurt to take the FOB apart and check under the rubber keypad. Fairly common after a while for the little metal discs on the underside of the pad coming loose causing exactly what you're describing. When mine came loose put a dab of super glue on it with a toothpick.

What you're saying makes sense.
The key fob's lock button was a bit finicky with it's response when depressing it.

I changed the battery and even though the existing battery was indeed weak, the fob was still acting the same with the new battery. Maybe I'll take it back apart and check for loose discs and try cleaning the contacts. I guess alcohol will do the trick. I don't have any electronic contact cleaner on hand.

I switched to a spare fob that worked much better and everything seems good.

I don't know for sure at this point if the key fob was the problem, time will tell.

Member @jawzs2 was spot on in regards to the interior of the key fob remote. Genius actually!

I took it apart and sure enough, as @jawzs2 suggested, the tiny disc for the lock button was no longer attached to the rubber. It was stuck to the circuit board.
I used a little epoxy to reattach it.

The circuit board was all gummed up too. I cleaned it with alcohol.

This is most likely a common problem and the fix should be listed somewhere as a sticky so others can easily fix their remotes.
