Hi, New to the forum. I just bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Clubcab with a gasoline 5.9L V8 (360 CID), automatic transmission, and 104k miles. I am going through it thoroughly now and had some questions I hope one of the long-time Dodge experts here could help me answer. I searched around the forum and found some useful info, but need a little more.

Per photo 1, there are two hoses on the passenger side of the engine bay that are loose. The one with the yellow arrow connects to a 4x4 actuator on the p/s of the front axle (see photo 2). I thought it might be a vent hose or something, but it is plugged. Can anyone identify this hose and let me know where it should connect and or post a photo of the correct configuration?

Also per photo 1, there is larger hose that looks cut. The other end of it connects to an evap canister under the bed on the passenger side, just ahead of the rear wheels . Same question as above, where is the engine bay end of that hose supposed to connect?

Per photo 3, on each side of truck, just behind the front wheel wells, there are hangers that have totally rusted off. Are these for running boards?

Per photo 4, the rear of the truck has the same thing (red arrow) and something that rusted off the area noted by the purple arrow. Are those for running boards, or something else? A photo of what they should look like would be super.

Thanks so much. This forum is really a wealth of expertise.

Those with the white piece is the axle vents, the rusty parts do appear to be from running boards. Charcoal tank may come off of the fuel tank. This may give you a start.

Daw 14 - Thank you.

I think you are right and the cut hose in pic 1 (green arrow) is a Vacuum Harness PN: 52121035AG. Part is discontinued. It runs along the p/s frame rail and connects to the vapor canister. I just don't know where it should connect on the engine bay side. Pretty sure I am missing some evap components in the engine bay, but I am having trouble finding a guide to show what should be there

Is the axle vent suppressed to be plugged like that?

most rear axle vents start at the axle tube , usually there is a one way valve & then the hose, the hose goes almost straight up & is attached to the bottom of the bed, that is to keep water out of the axle housing if you are fording a stream.

what appears to be a charcoal canister in pic #5 .....
If it was on a 2009 or newer Dodge ram, the hose would go from the rear of the gas tank up to the PURGE Valve, which could be almost under the battery or right next to the throttle body.

If i recall correctly ..
On older Dodge Rams, the hose would go from the back side of the passenger side headlight on the radiator shroud to the fuel tank area

Thanks GTYankee. Pic 5 is a vapor canister (one of two on my truck). The large cut-off hose in my pic 1 (green arrow) is connected to the one of those vapor canisters. I am trying to identify what it should be connected to in the engine bay. clearly some things are missing up there, but i am wondering if the truck should have a leak detection pump. i have a purge valve solenoid, but the hose barbs clearly are too small for that ID hose. i found the service man. online and some 99s apparently did come with LDPs, but I cannot tell if mine did and the books don't show how the LDP connects to the purge valve solenoid. Arg. Frustrating. If anyone out there has a gen 2 5.9L magnum and wants to take some pics of the emissions kit in their engine bay, i will buy them a beer next time they come to n. VA.

Appreciate all the good info so far and was hoping to get a steer on a few additional points if possible.

Can anyone help me identify which, if any, evap parts I am missing. I've reviewed the manual for a 1998 and a 2001 (I cannot find one for my truck, a 1999 Ram 2500 4x4 / 30 CID v8). I cannot tell from the book if my truck came with a leak detection pump and filter. I therefor can't tell how to repair the hose (C in the photos) that runs from a vape canister on the p/s bed rail to the engine bay. Can anyone tell me where that hose is supposed to connect in the engine bay?

Also, can anyone identify the electrical connects (B in the photos) that is present but not hooked to anything. Would a leak detection pump go here?

Last, the truck has a purge solenoid (A in the photo) that appears to be plumbed correctly, but that leaves me wondering where hose A connects.

I wonder if the truck originally came with the California LDP/DCP bracket package and hose A is supposed to connect to the LDP which connects back to the purge solenoid?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.
Did you ever get this resolved? I just bought a new (to me) 1999 with the same exact scenario. Also wondering where that hose is intended to connect and what that wiring conneector is for. I had one of these trucks back in high school (the one in my profie pic) and I don't remember the hose from that truck. I had it 10 years and was very familiar with the engine bay.

Also apologies for the signature, that's very cringey. I was like 19 when I last used this account and it's tied to my email.
