Has anyone used any non OEM fluids in their transfer case with the 4 Auto in their truck? I recently did both front, rear diffs and the transfer case with amsoil fluids but I made the mistake of buying the fuel efficient ATF fluid instead of the multi vehicle ATF fluid for the transfer case. Now that it's winter I've been driving in 4 auto and it feels like the front end isn't engaging and I recently had a 4 wheel drive overheating/4 wheel deactivated warning show up the other day. Been driving in 2 wheel ever since I saw that and want to swap out the fluid to fix whatever is going on but don't get why the amsoil data sheet says the fuel efficient ATF is also a replacement for Mopar 68089195AA and 68049954AA therefore shouldn't be an issue in my truck, no? My truck is a 2016 ram 1500 sport to be more specific. Any help is appreciated.

With the BW 44-44, clutch transfer case it’s much more important to use the OEM fluid. I did a deep dive into the subject and I believe I read someone on Bobistheoilguy site did a VOA of the BW 44-44 fluid and it turned out to be similar to to ATF+4 but also had some extra additives in it. Sorry to hear your problem with the slipping. Best you get that drained and refilled with the proper fluid. Those with the 44-46 and 44-47 (HD) don’t have to be as picky, ours has a chain. I’m sure as heck not paying for BW 44-44 fluid when mine doesn’t need it, that stuff is expensive. I don’t think there is an aftermarket fluid for the BW 44-44 transfer case, I could be wrong though.

Thanks, yeah I'm planning to put the OEM fluid in at this point as I don't wanna give Amsoil more money to potentially have the same issue. The part that's throwing me off is for 2011 to 2015 Rams with the BW 44-44 takes lubricant 68089195AA which is the same fluid for the 44-45, 44-46, and 44-47. For rams 2016 to 2018 with the BW44-44 calls for lubricant 68049954AA which is the one I assume I want? Did the 2015 and older rams have the BW 44-44 without the 4x4 auto in them?

No they just changed the fluid specs. I have a 2015 with the 44-44 and 4 Auto and used the 68089195AA fluid.

up to the end of the production year 2010, Ram 1500s used the
AAM 9.25 rear differential

all 2011 + Ram 1500s used the ZF 235 mm / 9.25 rear differential, ( ZF Friedrichshafen AG )

===========================
i won't swear to this, but

most of the 2500 and all 3500 Rams use Dana 60 front axles. The 1500 Rams and some early light duty 2500 Rams used a 9.25 Chrysler (Spicer) axle in the rear.
A Dana 60 rear axle was used on heavy-duty 2500 V8 Rams.

( some pre 2011, 9.25 differentials were marked )
Chrysler on the Build Sheet, they were the SPICER 9.25s
Others were marked AAM 9.25 on the build sheet
The hd axles have been AAM since the 3rd gens. 2nd gens had dana 60s/70s
