dam ice. was leaving work wednesday and as i went through the gate, once the front tires got over the hump gravity took over. the deicer in the pic is after i got stuck. the deicer worked great and quickly. i shouldve checked it out before trying to leave. made it through the gate that morning, but it was raining all day and didn't really think about the ice getting slicker. chalking it up to a learning experience. lol

from what i can tell so far i have wrinkly and scratches in the fender and door. the mirror broke a little but is fine and functional. the running board is alittle bent also.

That does suck the donkey. So did you hit the fence or something else?

hit the pole and the gate that opens up. was able to back up and then back of the truck slid into the fence.

now that i think of it, ill have to check the dsshcam to see if it caught the action.

Definately suxs, but also could be a lot worse.

Being it’s white, not terribly noticeable. I’d wait till winter is over to replace/ repair.

You guys have definitely been hit with the ‘Ice’ monster this week.

Having worked in the body business for years, I'd suggest asking a shop (or buddy) to pull the dents out, repair and repaint. As far as dent repair goes, from the picture posted, it's about as easy as it gets. Chances are the shop wouldn't be able to align the door and fender/hood as well as the factory did. Not that they 'couldn't' ...but they have to keep a schedule and panel alignment can take a LONG time if you are going for 100% perfect.

Take it to a couple shops and get their take. New replacement doors will be a bare shell and won't necessarily have the same seam-sealer and rust-proofing. And being a 2017, your insurnce company might even spec a used door/fender. Probably not but they might. And news flash: things might change after they start the work. Ok, that could end up being a red door they put on ...and they'd have to paint it white and then yer really in tough shape.

Shops and sometimes insurance companies may promise new panels on the front end, then you get the call saying, "Hey, I have bad news, they're back-ordered on new doors so the insurance company wants to go with a used door. Our hands are tied ...unless you want to pay the extra $500 for new panels." If they found a perfect white door it might not be so bad. But you'd want to nail down 100% what's going to happen before any work is started so you have clear expectations. And even then, it's never 100%.

Like I said before, sometimes sticking with salvageable factory panels when you can is the best. But get the take on a few shops in case damage is worse than what the pictures show.

I've been watching on the news car and truck in the south ping-ponging around on streets and overpasses! Today they had a highlight reel of guys slipping and falling on the ice, their sidewalks and decks! (supposedly nobody got hurt).

Ouch. On a previous ice storm this winter wife and I were coming back from a trip to MN to visit son/grands. Wife's turn to drive. Hit a slick overpass at 65mph. Back end started sliding around, but she kept her cool and straightened it. Ice sucks.
