Got my Underground Lighting HID kit yesterday in 6000k. They made a huge difference! The install was straight forward. Initially the lights didn’t come on. But I had read somewhere to flip one of the connections. I did and they fired right up. The only thing that left me a little concerned was the bulbs being a bit loose after install. I remedied that quickly by adding the rubber grommet from the old bulb. Now they are perfectly snug with no wobble while driving. See pics. :waytogo:

Thanks for posting this. I can see from one of your photo's that you have projector headlights; correct? I have been on the fence concerning switching to HID's in my low beams but just haven't been able to come to a conclusion as to are they better than halogens or LED's. There is so much information out there about halogens, LED's and HID's that it is hard to separate facts from "they are awesome!!!" comments. I put LED's in my projector housings and while they are okay, I am simply not overly impressed with them, especially the focus of the light (and I believe that I now know why). After sifting through an incredible amount of information I have come to the personal conclusion that either halogen or HID's perform best in projectors. Based on this, I have been considering the same HID's from Underground Lighting.

Thanks,

Yeah, these are projectors. And to avoid beating a dead horse, you are correct. HID's are the best upgrade for these projectors. I ran Morimoto HID's many years ago when they first came out, but they only lasted a few months... I had even bought their LED pods/fogs which where VERY underwhelming.. I didn't like that experience so i tossed them and went back to halogen. Fast forward 5-6 years and I'm back at it again. The Underground Lighting HID's have been working great so far. One of my LED fogs went out in less than a month though.. I sent them back to amazon and purchased a set of Alla switchback LED's. They work great so far. The only problem with switchbacks is running automatic high beams. Each time your high beams activate they turn your fogs off. This will trigger the sequence for the switchback fogs to change colors. So you need to either deactivate your fogs when running auto high's, or vice versa. Maybe there's a setting in Alpha OBD to keep fogs on while high beams are active? If so, I may consider getting the app. I hardly ever use my high's, so I'm not bent out of shape about it. I like the output so much I really don't want to mess with them anymore.

Alfaobd will allow you disable the fog light drop out. That way your fogs stay on when the highs are enabled.

Not sure if i asked you in another thread but were you able to fit everything under the dust covers or mounted the ballasts outside the housing?

I learned my lesson trying to jam everything under the dust covers years ago. I purchased these dust covers instead, screwed the ballasts to the frame with metal tap screws, and let the igniters hang loose. I figured this would also help keep everything running cooler as well.

I also went ahead and purchased alfaobd. I reprogrammed my fogs from dropping out when auto high beams kick on, to prevent them from switching colors.

Thank you. I have Alfa as well. The fog light drop out option is a game changer.
I assume you just toggle the fog light switch to change colors?

I would guess he has the directional tied into it so when he signals a turn the fog light flashes amber

You cant fit the ballast in the cover. You have to make a 1 inch hole in the back of the dust cover to run the wires out to the ballast. The kit comes with a grommet to seal the hole. You can mount the ballast to the side with zip ties or self tap them to the frame of the vehicle.
