Me too,lol
LOL Thanks Rick- no wonder nobody’s talked about it
Spent more time than I’d like to admit working on the two on the drivers side
Did find however, blasting all the road debris out of connectors with WD40 helped in releasing them
Really hoping someone had a magic wand for this one
Like you said lots of beer and bandaids

If you do find an easy way to get them apart, make sure you pass the info on Ron. When i put the long tubes on the wifes Challenger i was about ready to set fire to the car after fighting with the 02 connectors, they're buried even more on the cars lol

I definitely will
I found it to be hardest part of the installation, over the broken manifold bolts/dipstick tube
Sorry to hear it doesn’t get better on the Dodges

Actually the hardest part has always been- getting my wife to put this at the top of her list of job’s needing doing- almost impossible LOL

Mine races her car,so as long as i keep the car faster then the truck she's happy, lol.I should never have stuck her in the seat of my old 68 Camaro when we first started dating,it's been downhill ever since, lol

Update: got the manifolds off tonight …. 5 broken bolts total, but only two flush with the heads. I can absolutely understand what you all are saying about the O2 sensor connections on the top of the transmission. Almost worth cutting a hole in the floor and going at it from the top….almost. All in all, the process went pretty smoothly, thanks to all of your helpful advice!

Anyone have a tip on getting the O2 sensor connections apart located above the transmission?
Looking at re-installing my ARH LT’s that I have removed before I sold my previous truck
Separating the four sensor connectors that you can barely feel/see is the only thing that I’m really dreading on re-installing my headers- love to hear someones easy move

If i recall correctly, I used a small flathead from a glasses kit wedged up into the release pin while applying upward pressure to depress the release and pulled by the wire to disconnect. Practice on a more easily accessible connector. Ended up taking me more time to get it connected back together lol. Blind trial and error one handed while laying on my side.

Also, I can actually see it on the top side of the Trans. Just saw it the other day and had flashbacks when I connected a nee downstream bank 1 sensor back up lol. I don't recall if I ended up tugging on it a bit out of frustration to get some more slack.

That definitely sounds doable
I like the idea of doing a test run on one that you can see
Thanks for the help

Attempted to remove the studs broken below the surface today…for some reason I expected it to go smoothly. It did not. No access to a welder for a couple weeks. Might try another approach tomorrow. Pics below of my failure for your enjoyment lol

Sooooo uhhhhh…. How hard is it to pull these heads??? Lol

I attempted to remove the rear passenger bolt with a left hand drill bit. No luck, as I expected. Then tried a quality extractor, which broke off in the head. The other bolt is the very front of the driver side and very difficult to access.

At this point I’m just going to put the headers on and send it until summer, unless y’all see any major issues with that?

Good chance you'll have a leak at the bolts you don't remove. If you have it apart, why not hunt up a buddy with a little portable 120 volt mig welder, and remove the broken ones you haven't been able to remove. You've got the hard part done,if you do decide to remove the heads,it's usually reconmended to replace the head bolts if you do pull the heads

Well… headers are in. I decided to quit while I was ahead with the bolts that were broken off. I accept they will probably be leaking again here shortly, but I need to get the truck back on the road. I’ll address them again this summer when I have the proper tools and time. Poor planning on my part. All in all it wasn’t a terrible experience…only things I really had to fight with were the broken bolts, dipstick tube, and the header wrap. My first time ever wrapping headers and I never want to do that again….ever! I appreciate all the help fellas!

I will say that even with all the problems I encountered, I enjoyed the install and got the itch to start thinking on things again. I also stumbled upon a crew cab on Instagram that is a daily driver with 130k miles that broke in to the 11s recently and now I’m inspired lol.

I understand the quality of ARH has been in question lately. The product I received appeared to be of great quality but time will tell if the welds are true. Couldn’t be happier!

I'm guessing you're referring to Paul Martinez's truck. It has 170,000 miles and the DA was -750ft.The truck also has a HPT cam/ 3400 convertor/ported 6.4 intake and a hell'va good tune. Unless you live where you get really good minus DA numbers, don't expect to run the same numbers, with the same mods

I have a set of AHR cat-less long tubes and Remflex gaskets on the way. Should be delivered on Thursday and if all goes as planned, I’ll be tackling the installation this weekend. I’ve watched all the videos and read all the threads I could find. I’m aware of the broken bolt removal process, which I’m dreading since I’m confident three of the passenger side are broke.

I feel I’m well prepared to complete the install, but wanted to ask if any of you have any tips, tricks or secrets that may make the process go as smoothly as possible.

Appreciate any help!
I had some ARH on a Pontiac G8 GXP and then on a Cadillac CTS-V coupe. Great sound and airflow. You’ll like them.

I believe that’s the truck. I’m not expecting to get into the 11s with mine. It’s leveled with big Nittos. Just wanting a quick, healthy DD that I can keep for a long time. Seeing a truck with that many miles with that kind of performance was inspiring.

Sorry to hear about the experience. I share your pain. I had a number of nightmare scenarios occur with my install years ago. Ended up taking me 40 to 60 hours start to finish. It all started when I pulled the truck into the garage and ran over the creeper lol. I had broken header bolts, dipstick end broke off and fell in the oil pan, dumped all my oil all over myself and the garage floor when draining, fun with dropping the pan and getting a new windage tray in there, breaking multiple oil pan bolts off, midpipe to catback leak, and more I'm sure that I've blocked from memory lol.

For the broken bolts and removal tools, I bought a "rescue bit". It will drill an easy out and cobalt bits. You removed the front tires and plastic fender liners before trying to get to the broken bolts?
Did you wrap the new headers? Ceramic coating works great to reduce under hood heat. Some header will not warranty their headers if they have been wrapped. My headers came with a warning about wrapping the headers and stated the warranty is void if the headers are wrapped.

Thats one of those"how do you know you're having a bad week" scenerio's,lol. I've been doing my share of mumbling the last couple of days myself,i'm putting the exhaust manifolds and catless mid pipes off my wife 6.4 Challenger on our 5.7 300,and there's been some cursing about engineers, lol

Warrenty on headers, now that's a funny one, lol. There isn't a header manufacture'r that'll warrenty a set of headers that have been on for a couple months. That wrapping them myth is from the days of mild steel headers, they'd heat stress and crack after time when wrapped, but the newer stainless headers don't have that issue. I'd rather wrap them and take my chances with the wrap, then have the heat they radiate degrade all the wiring/hoses etc in the vinicity of the headers, and fight with knock sensors pulling timing. Coating them helps, but wrapping them keeps more heat in the primaries and promotes better cylinder scavenging then coating them does, and keeps the knock sensors happier, plus i've yet to see any ceramic coating last much more then a couple months before it starts to flake off, especially if you live where it gets cold in the winter. The guys claiming wrap also cause rust are out to lunch to,here's my cheap JBA midpipe after it'd been wrapped for going on 5 years, not even any surface rust to speak of,and i soak the hell out of my header wrap at the carwash on a weekly basis,i'm **** about keeping my stuff clean, lol.
