It seems like during the past couple of years we always had a general discussion camping thread. So I figured I'd start this year's thread.

Up here in NJ our camping season doesn't start until April. That's when most campgrounds open. Our usual CG Old Cedar opens in mid April but they are taking reservations now so I called today to make them for the end of April. That's the week of our Anniversary. So now I feel like spring is just around the corner. It was almost 60° today so I washed the truck. That's helps the chase the winter blues away too.

This year will be a bit different though. I'll be towing the trailer with my new truck. I still have to set up the wd hitch and adjust the brake controller. I'll do that when the season gets closer. I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyone else have plans?

I'm here in Arizona and planning on going up north for a few days in June to get out of the heat. Me and the wife go tent camping. We have a small solar gen we use to blow up the air mattress. We are thinking about gettig one of those solar portable frige/freezer instead of having to worry about getting ice. Hopefully this year we can go a few times only have plans for june so far.

I am in a campground near Savannah Ga as I type this. High temperature today in south Georgia was 80 degrees. I do love living in the south until about July and August, then the humidity and the bugs are horrible. I am in the same campground now as the pic, which was last August.

We are planning on going to the UP this summer but that is all dependent on if the union at the company where I work goes on strike... if they do we will not be able to take the time off. If that happens we will do some weekend trips closer to home.

Super excited to get camper, opened up, fixed up ad ready.
Thinking I might replace tires, this season. 2020 Camper, so it's probably time.

Got 7 Reserved, week long, Camps.
# Fishing trips and 4 Fun, with the Wife, trips.
2 of which are actually fishing. but let her think what she wants.

Waiting for the kids to decide what days in July & Aug.
Come this monday, I'm reserving our sites, period.

Really would like to try, a Cross Country, camp site to camp site, type of trip.
Upper Michigan, or Wisconsin.
Somewhere reasonably close, for a first effort.

May just do the Mt Rushmore area, again.
Been 20 years and now we have no kids.
Benefit of that trip is we can swing North,
connect with family, in North Dakota.

Hmm, Iowa to Rushmore.
Rushmore to Lake Oahe
Lake Oahe S.D. to Lake Oahe, N.D.
Lake Oahe, N.D. to Lake Sakakawea, N.D.
Lake Sakakawea, N. D. to Devils Lake, N.D.
Devils Lake, N.D. to Lake Vermillion, Minn.

Think I got the start to a terrific outting here.

Great Thread Starter!

THanks

Going camping at Fort Wilderness at Disney soon. Can't wait to just hang out and see all the family with their rigs. Have about 7 going right now, may have a couple more. Going to miss the family camping at Delaware state park this summer as will be in a cruise postponed from last year.

Our camper is parked on a permanent site again this year, our 3rd year at this campground. Opens May 1st and we can't wait.

Wife was talking about maybe pulling it out after this year and just doing weekend trips next year. So I have until September to change her mind lol. I'd like to see other campgrounds but the weekends aren't getting any longer and after traveling all week for work it's nice just to be able to unlock the camper, grab a cold one out of the fridge, and relax.

Camp at Sea Pines near Cape May more this year. We only went once last season for 4 days. I love that camp ground. And hopefully just camp more in general. Shouldn't be an issue this year though because last year my wife had to work every other weekend as a nurse traveling all over PA to different county jails. This year, she got a promotion to Director of Nursing at a jail in PA and only works M-F. More weekends to camp!

Neighbor does that.
32ft Camper, permanent site, with full connections.
Campground is dead center of all his favorite trout streams.
10 to 30 minutes drives, at most, and one stream goes through campground.

Not sure if I'm envious, he has found a Place he wants to constantly visit,
or, thankful, I get to seek out/ discover, new Wonders.

Having a permanent site has its advantages and drawbacks. It works out good for us having 2 younger kids. All their stuff can stay right there. We go there pretty much every weekend May-Sept and I know if we pull it out next year the wife is going to want to go to the busier campgrounds around us and I'm not much for crowded places. The amount we would use it would be limited too. Maybe 6 or 7 times max.

Portable 12v fridges are great. No more chasing ice and soggy food. If you’re driving every day you can just run it from the vehicle battery. I got a portable power supply to use that can keep it going for a couple of days if we’re not driving. I recharge the portable power from the vehicle when we roll.

Thats great, im going to wait until the ecoflow glacier comes out and see what size that is. If I do not like it I will probably go with Acopower 52 quart. I think the ecoflow is a dualzone fridge/ freezer

I have always wondered why some people visit Mt. Rushmore every couple of years.
Do they go to see if another Presidents nose broke off ? :)

If i were to go up in that area, i think that i would like to go see

What areas of WI do you camp in? We're new to the state and brought the camper so we're looking for areas to visit for weekend trips starting spring.

Our camper is parked in Chetek now but the first year we had it we pulled it around, mostly local in central/western WI. Stoney Creek in Osseo is a really nice campground and probably the best in my area but they're always booked way out for weekends. Pretty sure they're booked solid already for the year from memorial day to labor day. If you have kids jellystone in warrens is a good place. They have a waterpark and always have activities going on for kids. Growing up I did a lot of camping and Pattison State Park in Superior was one of my favorites. Highest waterfalls in Wisconsin and a lot of hiking/exploring trails. Brunet Island State Park in Cornell was also a favorite of mine growing up. Haven't been to either for 20 or so years but I definitely am going to take the kids to both sometime soon. Probably just tent it and leave the wife at home, she's not much for state parks more of the "glamping" type and definitely will not sleep in a tent. Our camper is 36' so it's not the easiest getting in and out of places now a days and the site we have is really good sized. The main reason we keep the permanent site.

If you like atving or have a side by side Parkland Village in Black River Falls is right on some good trails or at least they used to be. Rock Dam in Willard is a good no frills campground but they by far have the best atv trails around.

If you're young and like to drink, Apple River, in Sommerset, WI can be a ton of fun.
Bigger the group, the better, but just 2 people can be blast, as well.
We did it, almost 40 years ago, now, but many found memories.
Camp at the very last campground, as close to the cable across the river, as you can get.
hard to walk after floating and drinking for hours

When I was a kid my parents and aunts and uncles would do an adults only camping trip once a year. They went there a lot and still tell stories of their floats to this day.
