What? Alignment has Nothing to do with the tires themselves, it's aligning the suspension and the tires do not come into play what so ever as far as castor, camber, and toe.

.
You change your toe out when you select a greater width rim or tire. You still have to adjust it to sit on the road per blueprint. Always been my experience.

This just in from the Dealerships General Manager: "Bring the unit in and we will check the alignment specs no worries."

So, with that, the new front, pricey Bridgestone Duravis tires should have a healthy start. But one of our Forum members who recommened these Bridgestones said I should use the THuren specs of "0" degrees toe in, with no variance from that. That, however may not be Ram's specs. ???

;)
When the dealer did my front stabilizer bar "fix.. ie tack weld" they had to do an alignment on my 3500 (which I had to pay for). They also used the Thuren spec of 0 degree toe and actually told me that you cannot go by Ram specs for alignment on these trucks. Dunno, but the truck drove like a dream after they did it and all of my inside tire wear pretty much went away.

They did my'17, but only because it was less than 10,000 miles and one year at the time.
After that they said it's "maintenance".

Good thread. I need to schedule mine in for a warranty alignment. It doesn't pull, but doesn't have a great sense of where straight ahead is. Might as well have them check it out. 1000 miles on it, 4 months old.

I emailed the Dealership GM manager about it before I made the trip, explaining how at only 16K miles the front tires should not have such abnormal outer wear, and all the way to the wear bars. He said bring it in and we'll take care of it. I did but he still had to go out there and twist the techs arm to set the toe as I wanted it, "0" toe in. The tech wanted to do everything by the book. So, I'm happy. I have a new front set of Bridgestone Duravis 500 HDs and a straight alignment. Best of all, on the 100 mile trip back through Phoenix I averaged 2 more mpg than before. ;)

You will like those Duravis 500's, especially on the highway.

I had the Duravis 700's on a Silverado. They came stock when I bought the truck. The front tires lasted me for over 75,000 miles and rears almost 60,000. When they needed to be replaced I replaced with the same.

Then I bought my '17 Ram which came with the Nexen junk. They were worn out by 30,000. So I replaced them with the Duravis 500's. I sold the truck with a little over 50,000 on it and the tires barely showed wear.

Then, I bought my '20 Ram and again the junk Nexen's were done by 30,000. One of them broke a belt and caused a big "lump" in the tire. Dealer said he could replace it under warranty, but I would only get one new tire and it would be the exact same Nexen. Told him no thanks you can keep them. So I went out and bought 6 new Duravis 500's. I only have 8,000 miles on them, but I don't think I would buy any other tire. I like how quiet they are going down the road. I don't really have to worry about snow, but there are very good in rain.

Good to hear. Yesterday I only replaced just the 2 front Nexens w/ the 500s. The rears are still quite good. But then, I only have 16K on my '19 3500 dually

I couldn't find the U.S. DOT code on these Bridgestones, but I did see: "Made In Japan."

Here is the Dealer Service Dept print out of the "0" toe in alignment I insisted be done om my 2019 3500 dually. Did they come close to "0" toe in? Not being a tech, it's not clear how I should read this.

The total toe circled is for the rear wheels, the green total toe is the front. pretty close to zero, not exact, a little toe out, not in.

I bought a lifetime alignment deal at Sears Automotive back in 1987 for a 1986 Toyota Celica GTS (my second car). They placed a red decal in the glove box stating the vehicle was covered under the lifetime alignment deal. I remember taking it in for an alignment in 2010 before Sears went under and the manager said Sears didn’t offer lifetime alignments. I said back in the 80s they did and showed him my decal. He said he wasn’t even born then and gave me my alignment. I sold the car in 2022 for half what I originally paid for it.

My truck has only 16,000 miles on it.

When I bring my 3500 in for the fuel pump replacement on Wednesday, I will bring with me one of the badly worn front tires after Discount Tire puts the new Bridgestones on. I am going to show them the worn out outer edges. And ask that they correct the alignment, under warranty, so that the new ones are protected. I do anticipate them balking on that, but we'll see.

My 36,000 mike 36K month BTB Warranty expired on 2/1/23, but I purchased an extended Mopar Factory Warranty beforehand. I had no idea the alignment was off. I only recently discovered this.

Weeks ago, before the original Warranty expired I emailed the Service Writer that the tires wore out at 16K miles. I was told: "You have to contact the tire manufacturer." :-/ It would certainly be unfair that I would have to go and shell out money to have an alignment shop do this.

No way. They don’t owe you anything of the sort unless it was out of line from factory. You’d have noticed I would think at your first rotation (preferably before) of 5k or so miles if you are on that OCF /preventative maintenance interval. Tire issues are covered by the tire manufacturer. Sorry, but no love from me on this one. Check Tire Rack or Discount Tire for good unbiased recommendations based on Your use and driving style.

David, you sound like a Ram Service Writer. I had, ahead of that appointment, written to the Dealership GM and he said "bring the rig in and we'll take care of it." He finally had to go and twist the techs arm, as the tech insisted on setting the same factory toe in, but we got it done. See below computer print out. The customer is not always right, but in this case, I was. Lot's of Forum Members here recommended set the toe to near zero. :)

I all 47 years of being a technician, and over 20 of them in dealers.... The manufacturer never warrantied an adjustment or maintenance item except on a vehicle with under maybe a feww hundred miles. Good luck!

It wasn't until only after about 15,000 miles that I first noticed how badly the front tires were wearing on the outer edge. I would have had no idea the alignment was incorrect until then.

I do not understand how anyone can drive 15K and not check their front tires for air & wear at least once a week, btw did you not rotate them every 5-7500 miles, if so who ever did the rotation did not check the tires for uneven wear :favorites68: ...

Understand, I always checked for air. Rotated every 5,000 at dealership. No one ever said anything. Such as that may be, I now have a true front alignment and a set of fantastic Bridgestone Duravis 500 HDs. I'm happy !! :)
