Has anyone installed yellow/amber LED fog light bulbs instead of white? I did LEDs in the high and low beams, and love them.

It's usually dark, or just before daylight when I go to work. There are a lot of deer where I live, and I have to drive through three long dips where it's usually foggy.

I'm wondering if the yellow will cut through the fog better like I have read.

Thanks for any insight.

I have Axito or however it is spelled, was a simple plug and go, then aimed since they are MUCH brighter than the yellow halogen fogs that they replaced, as well as much more of a yellow light.

PIAA yellow fogs are off the chain, my best upgrade ever on any 4x4. You can see the road like 5 times better then headlights, in fact it is on par with high beams but better periphery vision. You will see deer on the side of the road you never knew where there. Best part, because they are yellow they are not offensive or dangerous like high beams can be. Yes yellow is also good for fog, but that doesnt tell the entire story, PIAA's blow away anything you get oem in all things. A lot of guys upgrade their headlights and that can be a pain, just tie in PIAA's to fog button you will never lack vision.

I upgraded from Sylvania yellow bulbs to Morimoto yellow led projectors, I'm underwhelmed by them. In retrospect I'd do the Morimoto Bangers pods, the Diode Dynamic pods, or the Baja Designs pods. They all make plug and play kits.

If you do this, post pics and your thoughts.
I want to do the same on my truck.
Let me know how the bulbs fit and all.
Thanks

I have them in my 2016. However, I haven't driven in fog or snow to see how well they work.
White LED light should be about the worst light that you can have for fog or snow.
Where the fog beam shines is more important than color, a fog pattern should stay low and wide. I've drove in near white out conditions with just my DiodeDynamics SS3 SAE Pro level fogs (white not yellow), they worked great.

You might know a thing or two about oil but an SAE Fog pattern has to do with the beam shape not the color or brightness.
I stand corrected. I will have to look up the difference with actual beams. Thanks for the correction. I was happy with my non sae pattern, maybe I would have been just as happy with sae.

So that was something I liked about the non sae, to each his own. The non sae you see what I said in first post periphery. It seams brighter because you see everything to your immediate left and immediate right. It has incredible vision for the first 25 meters. Mind you I have no real fog comparisons for the two different ones, but I loved see everything to the left and right of me right at the bumper = non sae.

If you are referring to the higher wattage units, such as the PIAA 9 watt versus the lower wattage street legal ones, they won't help. The brightness is going to reflect back at the driver in unintended patterns and **** off oncoming traffic. SAE ensures the pattern actually serves the purpose intended.

I just posted it and why I prefer non sae. What that didnt show was up and down versus periphery. But if you try the periphery option, many people would opt for it. When it is foggy, I imagine you are going very slow anyhow, not sure you would know the difference, but there is a real difference with periphery, it is amazing no joke. I doubt anyone will ruffle feathers with yellow fogs and sae, but if that is a concern do what big brother asks and go full sae. I'm glad for the discusion, now I understand the difference, and still would buy non sae and risk it because I like seeing the entire fiield of view in the first 25 meters, what you don't get with sae, you can see the previous post. Sae has better down range view, non sae has better side view, as long as it is yellow, I doubt anyone will care. I never had any complaint and someone flashing me nothing, and I live on country roads.

The DiodeDynamics SS3 SAE fogs do a fantastic job of lighting up from curb to curb. SAE beam keeps most of the light below a sharp cut off, doesn't limit the width. Most of the time they're plenty to drive with.
When looking off axis at a super bright focused beam of light is not a problem. Ever see those sky spot lights that the beams can be seen for miles up in the sky, if your outside the focused beam part you can look at the light.

I replaced mine with yellow/white switchback LED. The way it works is when first turned on they're white. Then if you turn them off and back on immediately (tap the button) the go yellow. I like them alot and the yellow cuts back on glare reflection in my opinion during snow/fog. I have an HD truck so my lenses are horizontal in the bumper. Yours may be vertical lights and take a different bulb style.
Sorry, no nighttime pics.

Like Crash, I installed the DiodeDynamics SS3 SAE Pro Level fogs but in Yellow. I made the upgrade because the stock quad headlights and fogs are not very good at all. Basically, I think the stock vertical fogs are just for show. In my opinion, swapping the entire fog assembly, while costing a bit more, was less of a hassle than dealing with LED bulbs (plug and play with no codes or other BS) and is a far more effective solution in terms of performance. It was money well spent. Made a huge difference.

I haven't been in heavy fog or snow yet so I can't speak to that but it's accepted that they'll outperform white lights. You mentioned deer so I'll add that these fogs provide a very wide beam pattern that really add tons of visibility into the sides of the road. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

I'm going to order a kit of the Sport yellows to replace the Morimoto kit.
