Personally, I HATE "FOG" lights. Most people use that word "fog" for any aftermarket light. I installed "driving" lights. Somewhere it is already explained. My suggestion is do your research as to what the differences are between them BEFORE you by. Talk to the manufactures about them also. If you talk to a few manufactures about their products ( fog vs driving) you will get a better idea what each does. Then you can use that info to pick the style you decided on from a manufacture you like.
People in my area always go to the store to buy "Kleenex" when in fact they are actually buying "facial tissues" from a Company named Kleenex. The difference between FOG and Driving is HUGH!!!

I replaced mine with yellow/white switchback LED. The way it works is when first turned on they're white. Then if you turn them off and back on immediately (tap the button) the go yellow. I like them alot and the yellow cuts back on glare reflection in my opinion during snow/fog. I have an HD truck so my lenses are horizontal in the bumper. Yours may be vertical lights and take a different bulb style.
Sorry, no nighttime pics.

Got them & installed. Look & work great so far. Final test will be when it's dark. Also something to keep in mind, another way to change color is turn the high beams on & off since that turns the fogs off while the HB's are on.
Thanks again for the link.

I used AlphaOBD to turn off the foglight dropout in the BCM, so when high beams are actuated my foglights stay whatever color I have selected.

I was thinking of doing that. I have AlphaOBD too
I have auto headlights so by turning off the dropout everything acts normal, of course except the fogs stay on with your highbeams. I highly recommend it. Hope you like them as much as I do. They have a nice darker hue yellow I like. I've had no issues and I think I've had them about 2 yrs. My father also put them in his and has no issues.

I wish Sylvania made yellow

ZXE bulbs, I always replace all my headlights with

ZXE's they are so bright. People say they don't last long but I've never had to replace them on either vehicle I own. The first set have been in use for 5 years now.

If you want the best of both worlds, you can get amber/white LED fog light bulb replacements. Turn on your fog lights and they are white. Turn them off then on again, and they are amber. Plug and play.

This is the only place I have seen them:

Back in the early 80's I had a set of PER-LUX Fog Cutters on my truck. Halogen and White but they for sure worked in the fog and Snow.Per Lux fog light 2.jpgPer Lux fog light 1.jpg

Has anyone installed yellow/amber LED fog light bulbs instead of white? I did LEDs in the high and low beams, and love them.

It's usually dark, or just before daylight when I go to work. There are a lot of deer where I live, and I have to drive through three long dips where it's usually foggy.

I'm wondering if the yellow will cut through the fog better like I have read.

Thanks for any insight.
I have a 21 2500 with a rather large led light bar. I added yellow polyimide tape to the outside of the lens. What a difference. Great in fog or rain. Couple bucks from Amazon. 5min install.

You know instead of doing amber fogs go with the clear lens and wear amber glasses. You'll be surprised how you can see in the fog or just night driving

I run amber led fog lights on my 07' Quad Cab 1500, they work great day and night. Just make sure they are properly aimed.

You made a good choice! Lots of research on amber and selective yellow used in fogs. Most agree amber is best for visibility (as much about others seeing you as you seeing them) in extreme cases, and I’ve experienced this first hand in snow and blowing dust. As others said, white leds and snow are about as bad as it gets (blinded many times lol).

Some choose to optimize more for “driving light” use which is where white fogs (especially on vehicles that sit higher) are useful. Depends what you like/need.

I plan to use amber lens covers when I spring for upgraded fogs (the turning light annoys me). Eventually I’ll add a 20” light bar, then be able to choose the right light for the job.

Where the fog beam shines is more important than color, a fog pattern should stay low and wide. I've drove in near white out conditions with just my DiodeDynamics SS3 SAE Pro level fogs (white not yellow), they worked great.
Agreed. Proper fog light illumination will show you the fog-lines painted on the pavement.

Got my new blubs in today. Probably put them in tomorrow. I know it's an easy job, but didn't feel like it today.

Hope they work out. Will post back, hopefully with pictures.
