Hi folks!
I just joined the Ram club and am excited to be a new member to the Ram forum! Wondering if anyone has any recommendations on upgrading the brakes and suspension on my 2017 2500. I am currently looking at travel trailers and am planning on taking the truck off road (as often as possible) beginning in the spring. So braking power and off road capability are hot topics on my mind these days.
Really appreciate any thoughts!
Thanks!
RJ

From a suspension perspective off road and towing are have different goals.

Off road you want a longer travel spring and a softer spring that allows flex. Towing you want a higher rate or progressive spring that minimizes sag and bottoming out on the bump stops.

The factory springs are probably the middle ground.

Welcome to the forum.
If already lifted, by happy with what you got, you bought it that way. and enjoy using it.

Semi's can tow but dont off road.
Dune Buggy's can off road but don't tow.

Like wanting a super lean, runners body, girlfriend, with ZZZ *******.

Off road, most common issues is front/rear approach clearances and axle height.

Changing bumpers and larger tires will help, the most but, hurt towing options.
unless you are reall good at fabricating.

Yup. It sure did. It is already lifted. And in my groggy late night post here, I said “suspension” and what I was really needing to ask was about just the shocks. Shocks and brakes. I’ve got some pretty big springs already. My mistake.

Just servicing your brakes is the easiest upgrade. Make sure all the pins are moving. Ebc is the best upgrade in my opinion. I've done the power stops

What type of shocks are you running now on your lift? It really depends on what you are willing to spend or what you already have on it. As far as brakes go I would recommend power stop z36 pads and rotor kit. They are not cheap at around 1k for the entire set up but you can also get by with just the pads if the rotors are good.

As far as brakes go, drilled and slotted rotors may be better for towing but tend to get get packed up with mud or debris off road.
