We moved to northern UT in Sept 2021. Didn't do a whole lot of camping last year. A week near Bryce, a long weekend near Pocatella, and 4 days near the UT/ID border.

We plan on doing a lot more camping this year. We sold our newer 1/2-ton and bought an older 1-ton diesel truck. It'll take a while for all the snow to melt, so we'll head south for our first few camping trips. Can't wait!

Sometimes I'd find myself up in Cache Valley (used to live in SLC - down in Sugarhouse, and up in Layton before that.) It's pretty beautiful. There's also a ton of places in the Uintas that used to be awesome to camp at (at least during the few months when it wasn't frozen solid.)

Before the lake dried up, my favorite place to visit when visiting SLC was to camp on Antelope Island. Yeah, it added 45 minutes' drive time (plus the zillion stoplights up 2000N through Clearfield to I-5), but was totally worth it.

I'd never really gone all the way into desert, except once or twice when Moab was a thing, way, way WAY long ago. Kanab, Price, and suchlike would be kinda cool during the winter, though. Same with Mesquite, NV and/or along the V irgin River valley (only 90 minutes to Vegas from Mesquite!)

(edit: seriously, it's the name of the place... I put a space in on purpose to avoid the word being censored.)

My family likes to camp at the lakes here in Oregon. We’re going to 2 lakes and a and dune for some ATV action booked so far this season.

Sweet! Which lakes? I'm only an hour's drive from downtown PDX.

Question - do you have a WDH on your truck? If not, you might want to get one.

I picked my new trailer up yesterday from Kelso (WA), but it'll need a lot of work before it's ready to go... including a new WDH, which is why there's a little squat in my pic (the trailer only weighs 3600 lbs dry, but it did handle very nicely in the hills (on OR-30 near Rainier, OR-47 in general, and Apiary Rd in particular) in spite of not having a weight distribution hitch.)

Went and scouted out some more forest campsites. This time in Buchanan and For es State Forest

Enjoyed an overnight at a hotel with a pool and then headed out again in the morning.

Got to Mt. Davis just as the sun set, and then went back in the morning to check out a site and see the tower in the daylight.

The pics of the creek there’s fish in there They aren’t big but I don’t fish anyway but it’s cool to watch them jump to feed while sitting by the fire no 60k boat needed
$60K Boat? Don't I wish.
Replace one I got, be 74k.
One I want, almost a 100K
Reason I'm still using my 1997.

I get the "run over, twice, and car wreck thing."
Just glad you can get around to do the things you like to do.

I would too, but can't, even with the narcotics, so it's the boat, for me.

Already told the Wife, when I can't crawl into the boat,
beam me up, Scotty, I'm done with this Planet.

Keep up with the Pictures, everyone, they are simply amazing.
That Snow, with all those pine tree's is so darn cool.

Got Family on east side of the mountains, up near Thompson Falls, Montana.
They keep trying to get us up there. Pics look a lot like the ones shown in this thread
Just bigger trees.

Seen pics with snow all over the trees and they're running around in hoodies
on the Sleds because its so nice. Being North Dakotans, they handle a ton of cold.

The definition of a boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into even at 60 k that’s expensive fish lol. I’m not much of a fisherman but I have a Newfie friend that is everyone relaxing in their own way. The same thing for the giant rolling house not for me but if you like it do it. You might see a sxs behind my truck if the economy ever turns around

We prefer what some people call boondocking as far from people as possible usually the only people we see are on quads or sxs’s. In Alberta and bc it is easy to find a place to camp.

Canada?

I thought that entire Country was a Campground.
Nothing but Mountains, Snow, Pine Trees & a RR to ship Timber, into the U.S.A.

The actually have houses and, like, real Towns?
Do you mean Rocky & Bullwinkle lead me astray...drats!

An alternative way, of looking at things:
You live in Canada, your everyday Existence, is Boondocking.

Admit it:
That WAS funny, right there.

From Edmonton Alberta it’s a three hour drive to jasper park. To the middle of no where is about four. There’s public land use zones that are like your blm zones where you can camp randomly.

Some fun stats for ya:

40 million Canadians, and 90% of us live within 150 miles of the US border
35% lives in 3 main cities/areas: toronto, montreal, and vancouver

And apparently we're the most educated country in the world:
