I have a ram 2021 limited with the big screen. The time shows in the status bar, but if I open Google maps it goes away and now shows in maps, in other apps it shows in different places on the screen. This causes me to hunt around the screen trying to figure out what time it is. Question...can I get the time to display in one place, can I get an app that just shows a clock?

Seems like it should be a simple thing considering clocks were the first big tech added to cars.

To bluntly answer your question. No.

Different applications have different layouts. Google just changed the android auto layout for example, and the clock is in a different spot than it used to be, so is all the phone info etc.

Big complaint of mine too.
Why can’t they just put a clock in independent of the display or even just an analog clock.

Many options:
-Change the setting in the EVIC dashboard to display it.
-don’t use google. Doesn’t a limited come with nav?
- put the clock on the steering wheel.

Years ago people use to use a device attached to their arm. This was a time period where power/locks windows and AC were the only vehicle options. Our headlight dimmer switches were on the floor and one used there foot to dim the lights.

It seems peculiar that the only answer Ram has is to put a $3 stick-on clock on a $70,000 machine in 2023 to know what time it is. That’s disappointing.

If you don't want to "hunt" around for the time, you can always place an analog clock in a location to your pleasing..

ROFL :)
The only place that you see clocks any more is in peoples homes.

Back in late 2003, i set my wrist watch down & have not looked for it since.

I bought a Flip Phone in 2004, now everyone tells me that i need a smart phone.
Heck, i don't know how to use a flip phone, except for voice calling
Things are moving way to quickly for me

Why would you want to use factory navigation instead of Google. Google maps are fire superior to the crap factory nav.

The only advantage I can see to using the factory Nav is the GUI is far superior to Google Maps but the route selection sux.

Unless the latest update I've heard of has fixed the POS display features of Google Maps.

Plus, when I use Android Auto, I don't see my text messages from a non-Google, third party sms app.

I'm forced to choose between a functional Nav (Google Maps) or the ability to see my text messages.

I agree though, the factory Nav is worse than useless with the route selection it suggests.

Always longer with crappy gas guzzling tiny side streets filled with traffic and stop signs.

The only thing of use for the factory Nav is a route timer, if you already know where you're going.

The clock is made by Formation Products Inc. You can get them with a "stick" on back, or a mountable style. I have used them for years on the ATV, and tractor as well.

I had to get rid of my flip phone in 2020 because Verizon was dropping 3G. I got a bulletproof smart phone, but I can't remember when the last time I actually made a phone call on it, and the calls I've received in the past month have been Spam. I do send and receive about 10 texts a month, though, so obviously I'm a tech wizard. The first thing I did when I got it was to go through all the apps and uninstall or disable about 90% of them. I need phone, texts, weather, and a couple others. I definitely don't need games or tidal charts. Oh, and I shut off Google Asst because it was listening to me and would randomly speak up when I hadn't summoned it.

If you use an Android phone, if your phone isn't rooted, this app is the next best thing.

If you're not comfortable installing apk files, you can likely find this app in the PlayStore or Google.

This screenshot below shows 460 Apps are blocked from calling home and receiving updates.

And this is after uninstalling all that I could and disabling many others. Android phone are evil when it comes to privacy exploitation.

I also use Sophos Intercept X free, on my Android phone.

In 2022, i picked up a cell phone that is fairly rugged

Sonim XP3 4G LTE 8GB Rugged Flip Phone AT&T GSM

I tried to text, just to leave a message, it worked once or twice, after that, instead of letters, it comes out numerals.
I don't know any of the neighborhood children, or i would have them teach me.
There is one neighbor, she says she can teach me, but she is too busy texting every person she ever met.

Because my work is around semi trucks, we will be having a safety meeting, all of those diesel engines idling is loud.
So i downloaded the sound of a Angry Cat , it sounds like a cat being stepped on, it was louder than the diesel engines.
One of my neighbors borrowed my phone, he must have changed the sound & the name of Angry Cat to something else.
I can't find it & i am not going to pay for it again, i forgot who loaded it for me.
It sounded similar to this

I really disagree with that, although Google isn't perfect, and a few things I would like to see changed. It's thousands of miles ahead of the factory user interface. I've never had a single issue receiving text messages from anyone regardless of what they use. Android Apple WhatsApp you name it. They come through with zero issues. And I'll definitely say the Android auto experience is a thousand times better now. Ice switch to an aftermarket stereo, getting rid of that POS Uconnect Head unit was the best thing I ever did.

No need for all that pointless garbage on your phone. You're far too worried about security. Apps like that should come default with a tinfoil hat

I absolutely hate those sonim phones. My company switched to those after wasting several thousand dollars in iPhone's that couldn't stand up to our harsh work environment. Well these new phones physically stood up, not a single, broken body or screen, they constantly froze and locked up on us randomly. Sometimes with no user interaction. User interaction just pull it out of your pocket and it was frozen. A couple of them completely bricked. Once again company wasted a few thousand dollars on phones. Now this last time they went with just the cheap Samsung a series phone's and have had very very little issue. Although this time around, I just use my own personal phone, I'm not a fan of Samsung's UI.
