WOW, 43 posts weather to be honest or not.

Yep. Karma would require me to just cut the check, not re-do the paperwork or be a jerk.

I agree DO NOT sign new papers just pay you half in a separate deal!

I was taught to be a man of my word.

If I tell another man I'm going to do something or commit to something....that's what I am going to do.

Even if it was more or less than the $250 in question....me personally, I'd feel like a **** knowing I told that salesman that I would hold up my end of that deal and then not follow through.

Again, just my opinion....I don't like feeling like I pulled a fast one on somebody, even if they screwed the pooch in the process.

Tuesday: Signed all the docs for a 2017 Crew Cab 4x4 Sport. Negotiated a 50/50 split for the cost of a spray-in bedliner

Wednesday: Truck arrives at dealership

Thursday Morning: Spray-in bedliner completed

Thursday Evening: Finance manager calls me into his office, and indicates that a mistake has been made with the numbers. The “deal sheet” properly captures the 50/50 split for the bed-liner, BUT their finance guy forgot to include it within the final finance papers (I signed on Tues). He states “ From one business man to another, let us do the right thing here, and redo the paperwork so we can include the cost of the bed-liner?” In essence, the bed-liner cost was not included so that point done at no cost to me.

Soooo…what would you do in this situation? :)

I've always said, "Everyone has two personalities. Their regular personality and their personality when it comes to money!

Asking the question speaks volumes as to your personality when it comes to money and your word. If it were me and I was satisfied with the deal before the error, I'd man up and do the right thing. You will never regret it, and you'll be a better man for doing it.

I would do the honest thing, and pay the $250. Rather than deal with all the paperwork, just pay the $250 and be done with it.

As someone said earlier, if they made the mistake and charged you the full $500, you would be upset, so do what's right and pay the $250 that you agreed on.

Agreed but you can't treat stealerships like human beings... Spawn of Satan... Maybe

In my experiences salespeople treat you like you've come from the old country & have only ever experienced horse & buggy. I understand that my Mennonite hat may stereotype me as a person of the cloth but it's simply for UV protection. I know how to adjust a powered seat.

With that being said, I have driven off the lot without paying the down payment before. Not on purpose. I didn't get far before my phone rang. I turned around. Does that make me a pu**y?

I'm surprised they would even ask. I'm sure they can afford to eat the $250. I feel it's a bad look on their part.

I would have paid if it was part of the agreement on both sides, although I think the dealership can be cynical when it comes to a verbal agreement.

Not redo paperwork, but pay the $250 and call it a day

Write a separate check for the bedliner and leave the paperwork as is.
