So you 5 gens can see it, 7 bucks and change for oil soluble moly additive. See biotech thread for info on why this stuff is so effective at killing hemi tick. About 50% rate against hemi tick, only redline has been proven better but has priced themselves out of many budgets. Don't be afraid to use 2 bottles if you have the tick.

I don't need a hemi tick added. I already have one thank you very much.

ok sounds good, out of 56 ram forum members who used biotech only 12 said it didnt help with their hemi tick, just say'n. It is the science of molybdenum, the more you have the better the coefficient of friction.

What is the difference between the LubeGard 30916 Heavy Duty and the LubeGard 40902 BioTech? I have purchased and used the latter before. When comparing the two on their website the HD states improvements: Friction 29%, Oxidative 60%, Wear 70%, oil life 30%. For the BioTech same/similar LXE Ester mix, and oil life 30%. Is it just marketing between the 2? I need to buy my next bottle soon. TIA

Last time I bought some I paid $10.55/15 oz bottle. I knew I should have grabbed more.

These are only 10 oz bottles in your deal.

I believe it is three ounce per quart, but most people dump the 15 ounce size in.
I have the 15 oz. size in my subscribe and save Amazon. Would you recommend for me to opt for the 32 oz size instead? I do a 5k miles OCI. I did not hear hemi tick prior to starting to use lube guard. It has made an improvement in cold start clatter. This, with other measures, are preventative steps to try to keep hemi tick from happening, as I want to keep the truck for a long time.

It will be cheaper that way even if you use 1/2 the bottle and the other 1/2 next change. There is a recomended treat rate 3 ounce per quart of oil. If you use more then 15 ounce just maybe you want 5w30 for the oil as the viscosity of lg is a little less then high range 5w20.. If you have no hemi tick, I would use 1/2 the bottle and not the full bottle, and look for sales on 10 ounce they do come up.

how much, how many ounces of the biotech lubeguard would you say one would add to some redline 5w30 when changing the oil in a 6.4? i just picked up a new 2022 2500 6.4 and plan to change the oil early, like in the next few days. i think the 6.4 takes 7 quarts if i recall. would you say 1/2 quart, a full quart? and obviously remove 1 quarte of the RL 5w30.

and a tad off topic, but with hemi-tick-avoidance on my mind, any particular break in procedures one should follow, break in "oil" or formula of the vaarious recommended lubricants one should use during initial breaking in of motor?

I don't recommend mixing biotech with redline at all, an off chance if the truck actually had hemi tick that wasn't being relieved with redline 5w30 by itself.

Break in a good conventional, maybe not pennzoil as it is too good with that moly count. Some conventional oil with engine break in additive zddp on first and first only oil change, if you missed it on the first oil chnage it will likely be ok but the window is closed for initial proper breakin. I for sure wouldnt use redline as a break in oil.

LubeGard recommends 3 OZ per qt of oil. Some have recommended 1/2 qt per oil change for the 7 quarts required on the Hemi. I just buy the 32 oz on sale and use 1/2 each OCI. I don't have the "tick' FYI.

There is no "break in" oil at the factory fill. Many opinions exist when to drain the initial oil. I'm of the opinion, after following the driving recommendations for the 1st many miles, to change the oil & filter around the 1000 mile mark.

how many miles would you suggest for break in time period? historically I try to avoid any idling, and after about 400 miles of no hammering, I lean into the motor a few times and try to get in some full throttle applications after about 800miles or so. and done at like 1500 miles.

Sounds perfect to me, 500 miles is what most folks say or think. Redline says don't use their oil for 3500 miles new, but I think what you say is more correct, but I havent seen any science on it.
