Hello Ramforum community

Around 18 months ago we bought a 2014 RAM 1500. It’s always had this switch on it, but we’ve never been able to find out what it does? I assume it’s not stock. What do you guys think it is?

Aftermarket light(s) are the easy answer, that square panel right below where the switch is pulls out so you could check and see if there are wires attached to the switch at all.

Yep… I 2nd that. Do you have any aux lights installed?

What happens when you select it ON?

looks like you have something else mounted to the right of it as well.

Aftermarket auxiliary switch. Where it goes, nobody knows.
If no obvious accessories like light bars or ect. , you'll have to trace out the wire and see where it goes.

Alright, I’ll see tomorrow where it leads too.

Not that I’m aware. I’ve never noticed anything when turning it on, might be something on the outside?

That thing on the right is for a LPG System we have installed, very come here in the Netherlands where I live.

If you haven’t looked outside when you turn the switch ON yet….. I would certainly do that first :waytogo:

I had a friend that bought a used Dakota and had it for over six months. Early on, he thought it was a broken switch someone had installed. Then one night he happened to press it after dark and found green tube under-lighting.

Maybe it used to go somewhere? I know if I sold mine I would take my $300 driving lights with me, but would leave the switch, so dash would not have a "hole" in it.

I was thinking the same thing....I mean seriously, you never thought that it might be for something mounted on the outside of the vehicle and thus never bothered to look?

Just to double-check, you have tried turning it on when the truck was running or at least the key on? Not uncommon for a switch to only turn something on when the key is on or the truck is running......

I have a switch like that on my beater. It’s to shut off my aftermarket remote start, so it doesn’t drain my battery.

Re that switch, and after market remote starters
Had coffee yesterday with fellow, and he had his Nissan into dealer as battery was dead if it sat for a week
He said they found it was the remote starter, He said it was installed a few yrs ago, maybe battery getting old ? Wife's CRV will go down if it sits for a week or 2, Batter is OK , but smallish
No remote on that one 2008.
I can't use a W delete switch, She cooks good and I don't
